SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT REGARDING
THE FALSE VIDEO CIRCULATING
Hardin Medical Center has been alerted by many of our staff members and our community, who are dismayed about a terrible AI-generated video circulating on social media, specifically Facebook. The video falsely ranks hospitals across Tennessee and places Hardin Medical Center in the #1 spot for all the wrong reasons, using completely fabricated or misleading data.
Let us be clear: this video is not based on verified data. The page behind it is not a reputable news source. It’s a bogus operation out of Texas that mass-produces AI-generated videos designed to stir outrage, spread disinformation, and defame communities. They’ve posted content on everything from fake safety ratings to racially charged topics. It’s irresponsible, harmful, and false.
Now to the facts:
•Hardin Medical Center is not rated a “D” for Fall 2024. In fact, Fall 2024 ratings have not even been released. The video’s claims are either fabricated entirely or taken wildly out of context.
•HMC is fully accredited by DNV Healthcare, a globally respected accrediting body that holds us to rigorous safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards.
•The claims about handwashing, infection rates, and “objects left in patients” are completely false, offensive, and dangerous. We have strict infection control protocols in place, and our teams are held to high standards with ongoing audits and training.
•We take communication, discharge education, and patient safety seriously. Our teams meet daily to review patient safety, and our internal data reflects high scores for responsiveness, communication, and outcomes.
•Unlike this video, our data is real, reviewed, and reported transparently through credible sources like DNV, CMS, and internal Press Ganey surveys.
What We’re Doing
•We’ve reported the video and the page to Meta for misinformation and defamation.
•We are fighting back and working with legal counsel to protect the integrity of our hospital, staff, and reputation.
In the meantime, please don’t share it. Every click and comment only pushes it further. If you see it, report it. These sorts of posts are monetized; therefore the goal of the poster is to get as many clicks, shares, reactions, and comments as possible because it generates income from Facebook for them; another reason why they create ‘shocking’ content that helps fill their pockets as it gains traction across social media.
This is exactly the kind of content that can harm rural hospitals already fighting hard to survive. That not only includes Hardin Medical Center, but also the other four institutions mentioned in this content. All of us care for our community every day with compassion, excellence, and pride—and we won’t let disinformation define us. We hope you will help us fight misinformation such as this because it will likely happen more frequently and to all of us as the ease of creating content joins hands with the ability to monetize content.
