May Day has long been rooted in advocacy and collective action.

This year, organizations across the country are calling for a National Economic Day of Action, encouraging people to pause work, school, and spending while participating in nonviolent demonstrations.

You can learn more about participating in May Day 2026 for yourself and your business at https://indivisible.org/campaigns/may-day-participation-guide/.

At its core, this moment reflects the power of communities coming together to create impact.

At DeVetter Law, we believe access to equality and justice is not passive. It is strengthened through advocacy, education, and a commitment to showing up when it matters most. Tomorrow, May 1st, we will be out of office so our staff can support May Day events. We will return to office on Monday, May 4th.

Equality and justice aren’t just things we believe in. They’re what we work towards every day.

The GACDL Spring Seminar is an annual event hosted by the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL). It focuses on criminal defense education, featuring expert speakers.

Nancy Rhinehart DeVettered to share that Nancy DeVetter will speak this Friday at the GACDL Spring Seminar on Record Sealing and Restriction Before and After Disposition.

We’re thankful to the GACDL for the opportunity to highlight this important topic, especially as Second Chance Awareness Month comes to a close.

In awareness of Second Chance Month, we had the opportunity to speak on Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s the Good News Podcast to talk about our monthly expungement clinics in collaboration with them.

This conversation shed light on the legal pathways available for individuals of the Justice Impacted community who are ready to move forward, and why second chances matter. We talked about expungement and how it can open doors to employment, housing, and opportunity.

We want to thank podcast host Hillary Bradbury and the entire marketing team of Goodwill Southeast Georgia for having Nancy speak on the power of Second Chance Month and expungement.

Learn how to expunge your criminal record at our upcoming Arrest Eraser Clinic happening at Goodwill of Southeast Georgia. During this free clinic, attorney Nancy DeVetter offers legal advice and criminal record evaluation.

Please bring a copy of your criminal record and pre-register at the following link as we will not have access to your criminal record otherwise. https://devetterlaw.com/expungement-clinics/.

Thanks to our partners at Goodwill Southeast Georgia, attendees can receive a money order to cover the cost of their official criminal record (GCIC Report) — removing one of the biggest barriers to getting help.

A special thank you to our partners at Goodwill Southeast Georgia, DEEP Center, Offender Alumni Association, & Georgia Legal Services for helping to make this free event possible.

DeVetter Law is proud to announce a new member of the team.

Lucas B. Earl joins DeVetter Law Firm with a diverse legal background spanning judicial clerkship, civil litigation, and criminal defense. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Superior Court of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit before spending three years in civil practice, focusing on insurance defense and labor law. Most recently, Lucas served at the Chatham County Public Defender’s Office, where he handled major crimes cases and developed a strong foundation in litigation and client advocacy.

At DeVetter Law, Lucas will focus on helping individuals and families navigate complex and often emotional legal matters. He describes effective advocacy as being “the professional that a client can lean on in difficult times, helping them understand a challenging process while in the midst of grief.” His goal is to provide strong, honest advocacy and help clients obtain what they are entitled to under the law.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Lucas now calls Savannah home, where his family has also relocated over the past decade. Outside of the office, he enjoys music and is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, playing drums and piano while currently learning bass guitar. He is also a proud University of Alabama fan and enjoys spending time with his rescue dog, Mox.

Please join us in welcoming Lucas to the DeVetter Law team.
