The question we get a lot is Can I get a refund for taxes withheld from gaming winnings in Mississippi?

Short answer No. Mississippi residents are not required to report Mississippi gambling winnings as income on their state refund.
Out of state residents are not required to file a return if only income earned in Mississippi was Mississippi gambling winnings.

The tax season starts Monday January 26. By all indications it should be the largest refund year in history.

There are many changes to the tax code - Increase in Child Tax Credit, Limit on taxable tip income; Increase in Age related deduction.

The IRS has stated they will not mail refund checks. You must use direct deposit.
