💜 Walking together for a future without Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia touch so many families in our community—including many of the individuals and families we have had the privilege of working with.

This fall, the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is bringing communities together to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

There are several walks happening throughout our region this October:

💜 Schenectady – October 3 | Mohawk Harbor
💜 Cooperstown – October 4 | Clark Sports Center
💜 Queensbury – October 17 | SUNY Adirondack
💜 Troy/Columbia-Greene – October 18 | Joseph Bruno Stadium
💜 Albany – October 24 | Siena University

Whether you walk, volunteer, donate, or help spread the word, there are many ways to show your support.

We encourage our friends, clients, and neighbors to find a walk near them and join our community in supporting the individuals, caregivers, and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. 💜

🔎 MISSING: One Last Will & Testament.

Your parents have told you their estate planning is done. Great! But there’s one more question worth asking:

Do you know where the documents are?

Knowing where to find an original Will, Trust, Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy, and Living Will can be just as important as knowing they exist.

In our latest blog post, we cover:
đź“„ Where to safely store original estate planning documents
🔎 What to do if a loved one passes away and you can't find their Will
⚖️ What can happen if you find a copy, but not the original
📌 Why you should never remove the staples from an original Will
🗺️ How a simple "roadmap" can make things easier for your family

Happy Grandparents Day! đź’›

Grandparents have a special way of caring for their families—sharing their wisdom, passing down traditions, creating memories, and helping shape the generations that come after them.

As they grow older, one of the ways we can return that care is by helping make sure their wishes are heard and respected. Conversations about future care, important legal documents, and plans for the years ahead may not always be easy, but they can be an important part of caring for the people who have spent so much time caring for us.

Today, we celebrate the grandparents and grandparent figures who mean so much to our families. đź’›

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor those who were injured, and recognize all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

We also honor the first responders, service members, and countless others who responded with courage and compassion.

We will never forget.

Choosing who inherits your assets is only part of creating an estate plan. Just as important is deciding who you trust to carry it out.

Your Executor, Agent under your Power of Attorney, Health Care Agent, and Trustee each have very different responsibilities—and the person who is right for one role may not be the best fit for another.

In our latest blog post, we break down what to consider when choosing each person, why “fair” doesn’t always mean giving everyone the same job, and why it’s important to have backups in place.

In honor of International Day of Charity, we’re highlighting one way your generosity can continue beyond your lifetime: through your estate plan. 💙

If there is a nonprofit, organization, or cause that is meaningful to you, your Will or Trust can include a charitable gift as part of the legacy you leave behind.

That gift could be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, a particular asset, or a share of what remains after other gifts are made.

Whether you want to support your community, education, animals, the environment, or another cause close to your heart, thoughtful planning can help your generosity continue for years to come.

Interested in including charitable giving in your estate plan? Contact our office to discuss the best way to incorporate the organizations and causes you care about into your plan.
