California lemon law: Kia Telluride engine knocking at 8,000 miles, oil burning on every visit, and engine failure on the third trip to the dealer.

First visit — burning oil. Dealer topped it off. Second visit — same thing. Third visit — engine done. Then the dealer had the nerve to question his maintenance record. Every oil change was completed on time at that exact dealership.

Kia offered to replace the engine but said the wait would be 45 days. Our client asked for a loaner. They told him to pay out of pocket for a rental and maybe corporate would reimburse him. A month and a half without a practically new car, and they want him to front the bill.

What Kia was hoping no one would connect: class action lawsuits with the exact same facts existed before this case ever started. This was a known defect.
We filed. Kia dragged it out for months, but the case was airtight. Full repurchase — every payment returned, loan paid off, attorney's fees covered by Kia. He paid us nothing.

If your Kia keeps going back for the same engine issue, you may have a California lemon law claim. Reach out and we'll take a look.

California lemon law: RAM 1500 battery died four times in 18 months, and the dealer never once found the source.

Every visit, same answer — parasitic power drain, can't duplicate the cause. Same truck, same problem, same dead end. We filed a lawsuit that Friday. RAM was served and agreed to a full repurchase within days.

In a California lemon law repurchase, you get back your down payment, your monthly payments, and the loan gets paid off. RAM also owed civil penalties for not acting sooner. Our client walked away with $11,000 more than he spent on the truck. RAM covered our attorney's fees — he paid us nothing.

Three days before he had to turn the truck in, he went out and bought a certified pre-owned RAM TRX.

If your RAM keeps going back to the dealer for the same issue with no real fix, you may have more options than you think. Reach out and we'll take a look.

California lemon law: 2022 Porsche Taycan charging defect, two repair visits, Porsche repurchase.

Porsche issued a recall on certain Taycan batteries — fire risk, owners told to cap charging at 80%. Then the car stopped charging altogether. Dealer replaced a charging module. Two weeks later, the car wouldn't charge again.

A $115,000 EV that can't reliably do the one thing an EV is supposed to do is a lemon law problem. We sued Porsche under California lemon law, argued they failed to fix the car after a reasonable number of repair attempts, and forced a full repurchase. Loan paid off. Payments refunded. Attorney fees covered by Porsche. Our client paid us nothing.

If your Porsche has had repeated charging issues or repeated dealer visits for the same defect, reach out.

California lemon law: Honda Civic and CR-V 1.5 turbo engine defect, five repair visits, and Honda refuses to settle.

Honda has the best reliability reputation in America. That reputation is exactly what they use against you when you file a lemon law claim.

The 1.5 turbo engine in the Civic and CR-V is a known defect. Five repair visits, same problem, still not fixed — that's a clean California lemon law claim. Most manufacturers settle. Ford does. Mercedes does. Honda doesn't.

Honda's strategy is scorched earth. They deny the claim, lowball the offer, hire experts to dispute your repairs, and push the case to trial — banking on 12 jurors who walk in thinking Honda can do no wrong, and on you not having the stomach to fight back.

If you're dealing with a recurring Honda engine problem and the dealer keeps saying they can't duplicate it, you may have a lemon law claim. Our clients don't pay us anything.

California lemon law buybacks: Ford, Honda, GM, and Stellantis all handle them differently — and the differences matter.

Most people assume the biggest automakers are the toughest to deal with. That's not always true. Some manufacturers move quickly on repurchases. Others have processes designed to slow things down. Knowing which one you're up against is part of knowing how to win.

Ford may surprise you.

If you're dealing with a lemon law issue in California, the manufacturer on your title affects the strategy.

California lemon law: 2023 Corvette Z51 transmission lockout, three repair visits, three months out of service, GM repurchase.

Our client picked up a brand new Stingray with the Z51 package. Under 3,000 miles, the transmission started throwing error codes and locking the car into park. Three repair visits. First visit, software issue. Second visit, same codes, same lockout. Third visit, transmission needed a full replacement — and GM and the dealer spent three months pointing fingers at each other while the car sat untouched.

When he went to grab his registration, there were cobwebs in the glove box.

Three months of documented back-and-forth between GM and the dealer made the California lemon law case straightforward. We sued, GM repurchased the car, refunded every payment, paid off the loan, and covered attorney's fees. Our client paid us nothing.

If your vehicle has been sitting at a dealer for weeks with no resolution, reach out. We've seen this before.

California lemon law: Ford Bronco Raptor roof leak, three repair visits, Ford repurchase.

This was a $90,000 fully loaded off-road truck — the kind Ford markets for crossing deserts. It couldn't handle rain in Los Angeles. Water leaked through the roof onto the leather interior every time it rained.

Three visits. Dealer resealed the hardtop. Replaced the seals entirely. Still leaking. On the third visit, Ford's official position was that the water intrusion was "within acceptable limits."
On a $90,000 truck.

That position went into writing, and Ford didn't have much fight left after that. We sued under California lemon law, Ford repurchased the truck, refunded every payment, paid off the loan, and covered attorney's fees. Our client paid us nothing.
If your vehicle has been back for the same issue and the manufacturer is telling you the problem is acceptable, reach out. We've seen this before.

California lemon law: 2023 Ford Explorer backup camera malfunction, four repair visits, 75 days in the shop, Ford repurchase.

The camera was activating randomly while driving forward. Not in reverse — mid-drive. The screen would black out, calls dropped, navigation gone. Ford had four chances to fix it and wrote "unable to duplicate concern" twice. Then held the car for 75 days.

That repair history is exactly what California lemon law is built around. We sued, Ford bought the car back, refunded every payment, cancelled the lease, and covered attorney's fees. Our client paid us nothing.

If your vehicle has been in for the same issue more than once and the dealer can't seem to fix it, reach out. We've seen this before.

California lemon law case: 2023 Toyota Tundra V35A engine recall and complete engine failure while driving — settled in 45 days, Toyota repurchase.

Toyota recalled 100,000 Tundras after metal debris was found inside the V35A engine during manufacturing. The remedy was a full engine replacement. Our client received the recall notice and was told no replacement engines were available yet. Toyota's instruction: keep driving it.

A month later, the truck stalled at idle. He took it in. Diagnostics showed nothing. He was sent home.

Weeks later, the engine failed completely while he was driving. Full power loss. The truck was towed to the dealer. No engines were still available. It sat at the dealership for over a month.

We sued Toyota under California's lemon law. Toyota settled within 45 days of us filing. They repurchased the truck, refunded every payment, paid off the loan, and covered our attorney's fees. Our client paid us nothing.

If your Tundra has been sitting at the dealer or came back from service without a real fix, reach out. We've seen this before.

California lemon law case: 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 with ICCU failure and power loss at highway speed — two repair attempts, Hyundai repurchase.

Our client was driving 65 mph when he heard a loud pop from the rear of the car. Every warning light on the dash lit up and the vehicle began losing power. He coasted to the shoulder and called Hyundai roadside.

The failure was traced to the ICCU — the Integrated Charging Control Unit. When this component fails, the vehicle loses power completely.
The dealer replaced it under recall. Six weeks later, the same loud pop, the same loss of power at highway speed.

There is an active class action alleging Hyundai has been replacing defective ICCU units with equally defective parts. Our client's case was direct evidence of that pattern.

We sued Hyundai under California's lemon law. Hyundai repurchased the vehicle, refunded every payment, paid off the loan, and covered our attorney's fees. Our client paid us nothing.

If your Hyundai has been back to the dealer more than once without a real fix, reach out. We've seen this before.
