When Do You Need A U.S. Visa - Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Why Was My Work Visa Denied - Your application can be denied for several reasons. The USCIS has a certain number of qualifications that the employer must meet before the work visa can be granted. The employer must be knowledgeable and up-to-date on these requirements. Another reason the visa could be denied is if the USCIS determines that the employer filing the I-129 petition is not the same person that will be managing your work. Finally, a work visa could be denied if the job isn't a real position.

If it's something that can be easily addressed, the employer can file a second I-129 petition. The USCIS has a limit on the number of petitions you can file, so make sure that the employer submits proper documentation the first time around.

Applying for a work visa is one of the most common ways that an immigrant gets into the United States.
