"A Hermosa Beach resident has won a significant legal victory against the city's short-term rental enforcement regime, with a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruling that the city's ban on short-term rentals in the coastal zone cannot be enforced until it receives approval from the California Coastal Commission."

In a far-reaching ruling, a city of Hermosa Beach administrative hearing officer earlier this month tossed out a code enforcement citation issued for what city code enforcement claimed were unlawful short-term vacation rentals (STVRs) at the Vurpillat, a 28-unit, historic building on Hermosa Beach’s popular Strand. The ruling issued in an appeal from the citation, filed by Jay Mitchell, the Vurpillat’s owner. [Read more at angellaw.com.]
