He was facing LIFE in prison. Now his felony conviction has been dismissed.
How does that happen?

In 2023, prosecutors agreed to drop the attempted murder charge in exchange for a no-contest plea to felony poisoning. He ended up receiving just two years of probation, a deal the sentencing judge herself called “extremely generous.”

Here’s where California law gets interesting 👇

Under Penal Code §1203.4, someone who successfully completes probation can generally have their conviction dismissed. In qualifying cases, the judge is actually REQUIRED to grant it, even if the original crime was serious.

That doesn’t erase the criminal record, but it can provide significant relief from the consequences of a conviction.

So while the dismissal is making headlines, the real question may be why such a generous plea deal was offered in the first place.

Reports say 67-year-old Lorraine Wilkerson was arrested in Indiana after driving across the Jennings County Courthouse lawn and damaging property.

Here’s the legal side 👇

In Indiana, OWI can start as a Class C misdemeanor, but it can become a Class A misdemeanor if the driving endangers someone or the alcohol level is higher.

A Class A misdemeanor can mean up to 1 year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

And the courthouse lawn matters too.

If signs, landscaping, grass, or public property were damaged, that can create separate property damage/restitution issues on top of the OWI.

Legal takeaway:
A DUI is already serious.
But when you add courthouse property, public damage, and video evidence, it gets a lot harder to minimize.

This is why the Flock lawsuit matters. 😳👇

A Colorado woman says she was accused over a $25 package theft after Flock cameras placed her Rivian near the area.

But according to the lawsuit, that plate hit became way more than a lead.
1️⃣ The officer allegedly pulled about a month of her Flock records.
2️⃣ He issued a summons.
3️⃣ He allegedly did not review evidence that later helped clear her, including vehicle footage, phone location data, and security video.

The class-action argument is basically this:

Police should NOT be able to search a massive database of people’s vehicle movements without strict limits, warrants, case numbers, supervisor approval, and audits.

That is also why cities and states are pushing back.

Florida recently banned license plate readers from state roads, and Colorado lawmakers have pushed for guardrails on location-based surveillance.

This is heartbreaking. Prayers for everyone involved. 🙏

The incident reportedly occurred near Chilhaad village on Chakrata Road, when a car lost control and plunged into a deep gorge.

The video is reportedly from last Friday.

One occupant reportedly died, and two others were rescued.

From a legal perspective, a crash like this is usually less about “crime” and more about what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

👉Was there a guardrail?
👉 Was the curve properly marked?
👉 Was the road damaged, slick, or covered in loose gravel?
👉 Was there a mechanical failure?
