Santa Barbara Women Lawyers (SBWL) has supported equality, empowerment, and positive change in the legal profession since 1999. On September 30, 2026, Renée Nordstrand-Black attended SBWL’s Onward and Upward Award Ceremony at the Kimpton Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara. The event celebrated 3 accomplished law students who were awarded scholarships by the SBWL Foundation. NordstrandBlack PC is a sponsor of the event and SBWL.

At the Onward and Upward event, the SBWL Foundation announced the start of a Scholarship Reserve Fund. NordstrandBlack PC was proud to donate the first $1,000 toward the “1,000 for the Future” campaign to ensure lasting support for future scholarships.

Renée’s connection to SBWL extends beyond this event. She joined SBWL in 1991 and has served on the organization’s board of directors and as its President. She was chair of the Professional Advancement Committee, which created the SBWL Foundation, reflecting her longstanding involvement with Santa Barbara’s community of women lawyers.
