A tragic collision in Riverside County claimed the lives of a 43-year-old father and a 10-year-old child after their Mini Cooper collided with a fire engine responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated. While emergency responders play a critical role in protecting our communities, crashes involving fire trucks, ambulances, and police vehicles raise complex questions about roadway safety and whether emergency response protocols were properly followed. These investigations are often far more complicated than they initially appear.

The driver of a Mini Cooper and a 10-year-old passenger died Friday in Hemet in a collision with a fire truck racing to a blaze in Riverside County.

A productive and inspiring week in Maui for AAC Partners Casey R. Johnson and Megan Demshki at the Western Trial Lawyers Association Annual Hawaii Seminar. As WTLA Past President and current Education Chair, Casey helped kick off the conference by moderating the opening presentations and later led a well-attended session on "Why Uber is Suing Personal Injury Law Firms," which offered an overview of Uber’s efforts across the country to severely limit or completely eliminate victims’ rights, including through federal legislation and Uber’s California ballot initiative. Megan delivered a presentation on the risks and ethical considerations of AI. We are proud to see our attorneys sharing their knowledge, leading important conversations, and contributing to the advancement of trial advocacy.

The ballot initiative that Uber hopes to pass in the November election is not a consumer-protection effort but rather a coordinated attempt to fundamentally reshape how Californians access legal representation and medical care. Behind their carefully crafted language and falsely sympathetic framing lies a much scarier reality, one that would significantly limit the rights of auto accident victims. Self-driving cars are often marketed as safer than human drivers—and in many ways they may be. But recent reports involving Waymo robotaxis highlight a growing concern: when there’s no human behind the wheel, entirely new safety risks emerge.

CNN identified hundreds of incidents in which robotaxis allegedly made dangerous maneuvers and struggled with obstacles that humans instinctively handle.
