Episode 16: Culture & Business - Creating What Is Missing 🎙️

In this episode, I interviewed Mr Hamid Rouchdi, creator and owner of Cafe Vendome: a French/Morocco inspired cafe with 2 locations in Georgia.
We talked about his immigration experiences and assimilation into the business world of a few different countries he had resided in & how it inspired and shaped how he started his entrepreneurial journey here in the US.

Episode 15: Therapy - Generational Self-Care 🎙️

This episode’s guest is counselor Ms Katie Pinholster who sat with me as we discussed how we agree that the new “self-care” trend can be in the form of therapy. How therapy can help break generational cycles. Also I delved into what many foreigners may question when seeking a a therapist: if a client/therapist’s differing background affects the quality of guidance when exploring different cultures.

Episode 14: A Peak Behind The Invisible Wall 🎙️

Today’s episode is with Mr Isaac Mendoza, who happens to be the magic behind the lens of my podcast.

I wanted to bring Isaac to the other side of the camera and interview him on his own experience as an immigrant from Mexico. I wanted to get a view point of the perception Americans have of Mexico and how Mexicans view life on the other side of the “invisible wall”.

Episode 13: The Diluted Second Generation & The First Generation With The Task To Break Generational Cycles 🎙️

The tables have turned for this episode. I invited my 18 year old son, Shaheen Bagheri, to freely give feedback on his experience of being raised under the cultural dual identity of my 1st generation Iranian-American upbringing, and we talk about how my own experience growing up influenced my current parenting tactics in trying to maintain a healthy balance of assimilation, culture ties, and values.

Episode 12: Behind The Veil Of What Domestic Violence Looks Like & How An Immigrant Can Seek Help 🎙️

I wanted to bring to light a sensitive yet very informative episode regarding the many forms of what is considered domestic violence and especially how immigrants in the US can seek help from their abuser. My special guest, Ms. Fakiha Khan, is the co-founder of the non-profit organization Noor Family Services, an organization that assists mainly immigrants who are victims of domestic violence.

We both also talk about how if you are here in the US, with or without status and are currently dependent on your abuser petitioner to maintain status, what immigration process is available to obtain status without the threat of your abuser.

If you or anyone you know are a victim of domestic violence, there are many organizations out there to help. For those who want to seek help from an organization that is familiar with foreign & religious backgrounds, please reach out to Noor Family Services here in Georgia.

If you are in the US and your ability to stay in the US is being threatened by your abuser, reach out to my law firm to discuss what immigration options you may have at:

Episode 10: Refugee Resettlement in the US, Where Do They Begin? 🎙️

Today’s guest I invited Dr Mona Megahed, the vice president of the non-profit organization Ethaar. Ethaar is an amazing organization whose mission is in the assistance of resettling refugees upon their arrival in the US, specifically those assigned to arrive in Atlanta, GA.

As many may have seen through my posts, I conduct annual donation drives to help provide hygiene packages and winter coats to refugee families who recently arrived and have come with nothing. I have worked alongside this amazing organization who has been my source of contact in finding the families most in need, and especially those whose short period of assistance with a non-profit has ended, to help lighten some of the life’s burden they already face.

Due to my amazing donors, we have been able to help hundreds of families over +13 years in conducting these drives. Through my work, I try to show and remind the community of people in need right in our own backyard. However, there have been times where some just see my posts and see a different picture of life as a refugee and the reason they are here.

That is why I invited Mona to help shed light into the journey of a refugee and what the resettlement process entails.

If interested in helping and donating to alieve the lives of refugees who are constantly incoming and come with nothing, you can check out Ethaar’s website for more information on how you can help at: https://www.ethaarusa.org

Episode 9: When Cultural Reality Sets In After “I Do” 🎙️

As a follow up to last week’s episode, today I have Ms Layla Massoomi who kindly joined me today to share her own personal experience of marrying someone from abroad. Even though culturally and by identity her and her then-husband were thought to be similar, the difference due to the nature of their societal upbringing began to emerge, and ways of life were starting to be questioned and highlighted.
