Those that support Trump:

Several concerns with your position:

1. I have seen nothing that Trump represents the future. What has he delivered? Mass chaos and demonstrated refusal to follow laws and respect all human beings.

2. The First Amendment may only be changed by a vote of the p people. I believe freedom of speech is safe.

3. Give me a factual statistic that the north and south borders of the U.S. are not secure. It is an emotional hot button. I am confident that there is full integrity in U.S. elections. One must be registered to vote which is a sufficient vetting process.

4. The Second Amendment is safe. Again it can only be changed by a vote of the people. It says we have the right to bear arms. It does not limit the type or the use to defend life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.

5. The police are respected from all the information I have seen. Trump was the one that put law enforcement in harms way during the insurrection. There always will be people who disrespect the law. Trump can’t change that dynamic.

6. Much like 5., above. Out of control protest are nothing new. Look at history. Trump can’t change that people dynamic and he has demonstrated an ability to exasperate it.

7. This is an old debate about incarceration vs. rehabilitation. It is good policy to try to return as many people as possible to a productive crime free life where they pay their way and our tax dollars don’t pay their way.

8. I have seen no evidence that the current Supreme Court does not protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. To the extent you might be referring to abortion please cite the text from either supporting the right to abortion. I’m confident you will find none.

9. Where do you think our troops need to be returned? We have responsibilities as part of NATO and the war on terrorism. Leaving either compromises the U.S. more than the border issue.

10. I’d love to hear the problem with the Electoral College. Votes are tallied based on the number of electors assigned to each state and territory based on population. Seems pretty fair to me. The Republic is safe. Harris can’t change that status.

11. I do not know a Federal Judge that disrespects the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. What Judges do is deal with the imperfect laws passed by Congress and the state legislatures.

12. Capitalism is opportunity to make a living where the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker can sell and make a profit. If moving jobs to another country makes good business sense Trump won’t be able to stop it. Americans need to make the U.S. the most profitable place to do business.

13. What freebies are given to illegals. I have seen none identified. The homeless is a difficult issue. Many are mentally ill or drug or alcohol abusive. This issue has been viewed as a states issue. Trump has offered no panacea.

14. Trump has shown nothing to support the military or veterans. Disrespect at Arlington is all he has shown.

15. The President regardless of who can’t keep either s*x out of the other s*xes sport.

16. It is not the President’s role to provide affordable home ownership. It is in the control of the Federal Reserve, private banks, and capitalism.

17. Peace in the Middle East is problematic. Read history. Not a new issue. No President has solved it and Trump will not either.

18. Human and child trafficking are for law enforcement. Trump has offered nothing to deal with the issue.

19. Freedom of Religion? It is in the Bill of Rights. Not concerned about a vote of the people changing that. Trump has endorsed a Bible that does not represent the Catholic faith or many, many other religions.

20. Trump has offered nothing to support math, history, or science education. Other than the dollars offered to states through Congress education is a states issue.

21. Please explain how voting for Trump benefits you, your children, or your grandchildren. Better to ask Congress to balance the budget.

22. Change America? I’m not interested in changing America. I’m interested in picking the better of two evils. Trump is not the better in my opinion.

23. I would love to hear which policies have failed. The American democracy has often been described as a great experience in governance. I suspect that will always be the case because it is designed for ambition to counteract ambition. Read the Federalist Papers please.

24. Sorry, my opinion is a vote for Trump is not a vote for U.S. it is a recipe for four years of disaster!

I did not write these words, an Oklahoma Attorney did, but I agree with the sentiments. If you are interested in the judicial retention ballots, here is some information

While you watch the Red River Rivalry game tomorrow, you will see a commercial paid for by a special interest group regarding the upcoming judicial retention ballot. This commercial will also lie to you and say the Oklahoma Supreme Court Justices up for retention this year—Justices James Edmondson, Noma Gurich, and Yvonne Kauger—are “activist liberal judges” that should not be retained. This group has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on this campaign, including purchasing airtime for this and other commercials, as well as sending mailers containing the same lies. This campaign is meant to hijack the Oklahoma judicial retention system to remove Justices for making judicial rulings that this group disagrees with politically. However, the retention system is not meant for this, or any other political purpose.

For context, the Judicial Retention system used in Oklahoma was created as part of the many reforms implemented by Oklahoma voters and the legislature following years of corruption and scandals in our state court system in the late 1960s, and these reforms were specifically designed to prevent corrupt judges from being on the bench. The retention system is NOT meant for voters to retain or not retain judges based on the judge’s rulings or political beliefs.

For instance, there are justices on our state Supreme Court right now who have issued rulings with which I do not personally agree at all. However, if any of those justices were up for retention this year, does that mean I would vote “no” so they won’t be on the bench next term? No, because the retention ballot is not, nor has it ever been meant for that purpose. I would only vote against retaining a certain judge or justice if I believed they were not doing their job, which is to interpret the controversy before them in accordance with Oklahoma law, the Oklahoma Constitution, and the U.S. Constitution, and to do so in an impartial manner. Not one of the nine Justices on our court are accused of doing this, including the three Justices up for retention this year. If there were any such credible accusations or evidence of that kind of improper conduct, you would certainly see them in the commercial tomorrow. To spoil it for you now, you will not.

Instead, the groups behind this campaign will use the age-old playbook and simply label these Justices as “liberals”, and hope that will be enough for Oklahoma voters to vote against retaining them next month. Do not let them fool you. Do your research and see if there is any reason these Justices should not be retained due to corruption, partiality, or other behavior unfit for the state’s highest court. But to save you the time—you will not find any such reasons. These Justices are fantastic jurists who have served with honor on the bench for decades. They have not engaged in any behavior that would even slightly indicate they are unfit for the bench or unworthy of retaining their seats. If you don’t believe me, check for yourself at the link provided.

We all know how important the upcoming election will be, both at the state and federal level. But when you go to the polls next month and vote in line with your political views, I ask that you do not let yourself be guided by those views when you reach to the bottom of the ballot at the portion labeled “Judicial Retention”. You will see these Justices, as well Judges on the Court of Criminal Appeals and the Court of Civil Appeals, listed in that portion. I would encourage you to vote “yes” to retain all of these Justices and Judges, and don’t let yourself be persuaded by dark money special interest groups who only aim to meddle in our court system and oust justices and judges due to political beliefs. These groups are counting on voters to either vote no due to political reasons, or to not vote on the retention portion at all (which is what most people do!). Protect our Courts from that kind of influence and use the retention ballot for the purpose it was designed—to oust corrupt, impartial judges and to keep those that honorably do their jobs on the bench. Vote “yes” to retain these Justices and Judges, and please encourage others to do so as well.
