We rely on our justice system to secure the rule of law for all citizens, regardless of age, gender, race, or socio-economic status, in issues large and small. However, meaningful access to justice is far too often denied to ordinary citizens. The vast majority of ordinary people who are in need of legal representation are unable to access the courts because of lack of capital. In situations where
one party has outsized resources the balance of power is undoubtedly shifted. In other cases, special interest is able to exert its influence through backdoor financial support. Our judicial system can and should be a powerful tool for social change and impact. At CrowdDefend we believe that it’s time that we have their say in legal issues that matter to us, our families, & our communities.
