Thrilled to share this news – I recently won a motion to suppress evidence in a rare ruling that led to dismissal of the Federal case.
In this case, the police stopped an African American man driving a Mercedes in SF's Bayview neighborhood. They searched his car without reasonable suspicion that he was committing a crime and although they found a gun, we raised his Fourth Amendment right that protects him from unreasonable searches and seizures.
I'm incredibly proud of this win, and will continue to defend my clients against unlawful searches by the police.
More on the case:
The defendant was facing 10 years in federal prison, but a judge ruled the police search violated his Fourth Amendment rights.
