I'll be direct: our communities are under attack.

The administration's first executive order killed DEI programs across the federal government. Since then, Lunar New Year celebrations have been canceled. Affinity graduations honoring students of color, shut down in state after state. Florida just ensured this year's Haitian Flag Day will be the last. The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. Legislation would eliminate birthright citizenship and erase the heritage sites that tell our stories.

They want us to forget. We refuse.

API Legal Outreach has served the most marginalized in our community for over 50 years. As AAPI Heritage Month closes, your donation keeps that fight going.

Bridges, not walls. That's the spirit of this year's AANHPI Heritage Month theme: Power in Unity, Strengthening Communities Together.

Last week, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors recognized APILO as a 2026 AANHPI honoree for 51 years of culturally and linguistically responsive legal services for survivors of violence, for immigrants finding their footing, for elders and youth who need someone in their corner.

We're proud to share the honor with peer orgs across the county, each building bridges in their own way: Asian Immigrant Women Advocates, Banteay Srei, Community Health for Asian Americans, East Bay Asian Youth Center, and the Regional Pacific Islander Task Force, alongside other community leaders doing the work across our county. Thank you for standing with us. Together we rise!

“I broke out of my shell of anxiety because of YAC. For all four years of high school, YAC provided stability and a space to grow my social and political values during a period of constant change in my life. With funding harder to come by, I don’t want other students to miss what YAC gave me. By supporting YAC, you are preserving a rich legacy of youth development and community care that first-gen students like me relied on.” — Khadija, 4-year YAC alum, current YAC Coordinator

YAC needs your support by February 28.

2025 was a year of fighting for dignity, safety, and justice for elders and disabled communities. Last year, our Elder and Disability Rights team:

✅ Overturned wrongful SSI terminations, restoring critical benefits
✅ Supported clients through naturalization—including a third-time success after years of trying
✅ Secured restraining orders that transformed fear into safety
✅ Proved that when someone's separated but not divorced, Social Security can't count their ex's income

Behind each case is a person: a young adult with schizophrenia who depends on SSI. An elderly Filipina who worked through anxiety to achieve citizenship. Ms. S.L., who was born in a refugee camp and just became a U.S. citizen at 45. An elder who finally feels safe in her own home.

This is what your support makes possible. Read their stories and learn more in the Elder and Disability Rights Project 2025 Year in Review.
