Garcia Hong Law secured a victory for homeowners who found themselves defending a malicious prosecution lawsuit arising from a residential construction project gone wrong.

Our clients previously pursued claims against multiple parties involved in the project and obtained a judgment of approximately $7 million against other defendants. After they did not prevail against one contractor who had signed the project permit, that contractor turned around and sued the homeowners for malicious prosecution in Los Angeles.

We fought back and won. The court ruled in our clients’ favor, and they are entitled to recover their reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.

The motion was prepared and argued by Aylin Ortiz and Valerie Garcia Hong of Garcia Hong Law.

A good reminder: Losing one claim does not mean it was wrong to bring it. And defending your rights should not become the basis for another lawsuit.
