Gunshot residue (GSR) evidence can become an important issue in criminal investigations involving fi****ms. But the presence or absence of GSR needs to be carefully evaluated within the context of the entire case.

When I recently met with a local media anchor, we discussed an important topic: how private investigators can assist in missing persons cases and why getting an investigator involved as early as possible can make a difference.

The purpose of the interview was to help the public better understand the role that an independent private investigator can play alongside law enforcement. While law enforcement has many responsibilities and limited resources, private investigators can often dedicate additional time and attention to developing leads, locating witnesses, reviewing surveillance, conducting neighborhood canvasses, preserving evidence, analyzing digital footprints, and coordinating with families and attorneys.

Every missing person’s case is unique, but one thing remains constant: time matters. The sooner an experienced investigator becomes involved, the greater the opportunity to identify leads before evidence disappears, memories fade, or surveillance footage is lost.

I created the attached flyer to help families understand how a private investigator may be able to assist during one of the most difficult times they may ever face.
