California has enacted a new law targeting the “Montana loophole” used to avoid taxes on luxury cars and other vehicles. Signed September 30 and effective immediately, SB 1406 strengthens California’s ability to collect use taxes when residents use out-of-state shell companies to purchase vehicles brought into California.
