Bravo Law Group is honored to announce that Lilys McCoy has been appointed as a Judge for the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego. There is no more hard-working, dedicated, and thoughtful attorney more perfectly suited for service on the Bench. Judge McCoy has been a dear friend, colleague, and business partner over the years. The Courts, Litigants, and all San Diegans are lucky to have her as a Superior Court Judge. Bravo!

Just a friendly reminder that attempting to collect a consumer debt that is not actually owed is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

The report from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau comes as the agency explores ways to mitigate the impact that medical debt can have on consumer credit.

The San Diego Superior Court closure has been continued through April 30th. This impacts most Court operations and essentially has stayed all civil proceedings. Other types of emergency proceedings may be heard under certain circumstances. More details can be found on the Court's website.

If you are interested in finding out more about the $350 billion available to small businesses through the recently enacted Paycheck Protection Program, we have a short guide on the program available on our website.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES or The Act) has many provisions intended to buoy the economy during this difficult time. Part of the Act is the Paycheck Protection Program (the “PPP”) — a roughly $350-billion fund designed to help out small businesses by providing...

If you are considering a Paycheck Protection Program loan (authorized by the CARES Act) do not delay. Contact your banker now, and get your documentation together. Banks ought to be ready to accept applications later this week. The total program amount is only $350 billion which may sound like a lot of money, but in this setting it will be gone in a matter of days.

The Treasury Department issued guidelines Tuesday about the $349 billion paycheck protection program, part of the $2 trillion economic bailout package signed into law last week.

The Bravo Law Group, APC is currently evaluating the recently passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act) and its impact on and opportunities for individuals and businesses. We are still awaiting specific rules from the IRS, the SBA, the banks and others which will be rolling out over the coming weeks and months, and there will remain many questions as we all make our way through this pandemic. However, beginning on Thursday, April 2nd, we will be offering a one hour pro bono consultation via telephone with any California-based business or individual who has questions about the Act including how to apply for payroll protection loans (some or all of which might be forgiveable), the impact of employee retention credits, payroll tax deferrals, changes to the Family Medical Leave Act, estate planning, and other issues. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please email Greg directly at [email protected].

Please be aware that no banks (nor the SBA) are yet processing loans under the CARES act for payroll protection loans. There is a lot of fraud going on right now with emails going out to businesses and individuals seeking their tax, banking and other personal identifying information. So you should not be providing that information in response to those potential scams until you have spoken to your bank directly. We are expecting that those loans will be begin to be processed by the first of next week.
