Girl Scouts San Diego

Girl Scouts San Diego Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner.

As in all things Girl Scouts do, we are led by our Promise and Law (sdgirlscouts.org/mission). Our social media pages are places where you can learn about our organization, find fun and educational activities for girls, and celebrate women in leadership. We expect all our followers to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what

they say and do, and to respect themselves and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. While staff administrators moderate this page, we cannot immediately review every comment posted on the page. Opinions expressed by commenters are not necessarily those of Girl Scouts San Diego (GSSD) and its employees, and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of these comments. Gloria Steinem spent her life fighting to make this world a better place for girls and women. She's inspired generations to fight against inequality. A Girl Scout alum, Steinem stands as a powerful example for girls to be a voice for what you believe in.

Thank you, Gloria, for your leadership, advocacy, and the legacy you leave behind.

It's your last chance to join us for Urban Campout: Ignite the Possibilities on Friday, Sept. 18. We are so excited to be nearly sold out!

Summer camp meets glamour at this enchanting evening under the stars at our Balboa Campus. Where else can you get a bullseye in archery, earn adult Girl Scout "patches," enjoy a gourmet dinner, and bid on incredible auction experiences, all while supporting girls who dream of attending Girl Scout Camp?

You can help keep the campfire burning for generations to come. In the words of Celebratory Chair, Kristi Pieper:

"Camp has a way of creating moments that stay with you forever. Around a campfire, a girl can try something for the first time, find her voice, find her people, and begin to see what might be possible for her future."

Registration closes this Friday, Sept. 4, and only a few spots remain. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind event! Purchase your tickets at sdgirlscouts.org/urbancampout.

Gold Award Girl Scout Audrey Francis combatted a lack of financial literacy education to set kids in her community up for a better financial future. 💸

Her project, "Money Master," focused on teaching elementary-aged children about saving and thoughtful spending. She gave weekly lessons filled with activities to engage her students and reinforce important financial skills.

When Audrey recognized the gap in financial literacy education, she worked to make a change that will have a lasting impact. Way to go, Audrey!

Today, we honor the life and memory of Dolly Parton—trailblazing superstar, philanthropist, and Girl Scout Lifetime Member.

Dolly wanted to be a Girl Scout growing up in the Smoky Mountains, but her family's circumstances prevented her from joining. At age 60, she was presented with her lifetime membership by Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council (now Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians), surrounded by girls who looked up to her for her kindness, individuality, and generosity.

Dolly was a great unifier and spokesperson for human rights, leadership, and compassion, forever making her community and the world a better place.

In her words, “Be proud of who you are, and be kind to everyone you meet. That’s what Girl Scouting is all about.”

Thank you, Dolly 💚 Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.

Gold Award Girl Scout Aashni Katari spearheaded a project focused on the impact of social media on youth. 📱

For her project, "Screen Time and Social Media Effects on Children," Aashni wrote a six-book literary series called Beyond the Screen, aimed at helping children build healthy coping skills and encouraging responsible social media use. Along with her book series, she led presentations at local libraries and elementary schools and is working with the Poway Unified School District Board to establish a Social Media Awareness and Youth Well-Being Day.

Aashni saw a trend globally that concerned her and put in the work to make a positive impact. We're so proud of her advocacy! 🌟
