Happy Birthday to the Birthday Queen, who never missed the opportunity to celebrate life. Since losing her, she’s my constant reminder that you can’t replace time, always have Plan A, B, and C and nothing will be OK. She was a sense of humor, curious about life, disco loving, bingo playing, meet no stranger personality. Her stories as a Dupar’s Diner host in the Valley during retirement always kept us guessing who’d she meet next. “Who is this guy Bruno Mars, everyone was going crazy for when he came in,” was one of many she rang the tab for. We relished in her next fun story… I love you Mom! She would have been 83 today and I’m sure we’d be at the races celebrating. 🏇🥳❤️

2025 was a wild, beautiful activation.

I renovated a three-unit property, turned 50 with friends + family, watched Oliver turn one, traveled to France in the spring, stepped onto the stage for my first community theater play, and somehow had a daughter… on stage. Life stays creative.

This year stretched me—hard things, brave choices, growth outside my comfort zone. Last year I was the actor. This year, I’m the director of my life.

I rang in 2026 salsa dancing with my sister in Los Angeles—the perfect place to ground, root, and begin again.

One word for 2025: Activation
Onward. 💃✨🍋

Today marks three years since losing my Mom. Time may have passed but my love has grown tenfold. Before my Mom Carolina passed, she reminded me you can’t replace time. There’s choices daily we make in how and with who we spend our time. Someone recently shared a similar concept of time, that you can spend time living or dying. Someone else shared you can be a spectator or a participant in life. These philosophies resonated so much because we just never know how much time we’ve left of this life. As time passes, I’ve realized the pain of loss can be replaced with more love and more living…if you let it. Thank you Mom!

Every time I file an appellate brief or a notice of appeal on behalf of an incarcerated indigent defendant, I’m reminded of the crucial work done by organizations like Appellate Defenders, Inc. Nonprofits that serve the underserved play a vital role in reviewing appellate records to ensure fair trials and just sentencing.

I’m honored to do this work and humbled by the appellate system’s ability to provide oversight. Knowing that many eyes are on these cases reinforces the security of our justice system and the protection of fundamental rights. ⚖️

My heart is with my hometown of Los Angeles as I prepare for trial in LA Superior Court set to start in just eight days on the Mountain View Fire, which began near Walker, California, on November 17, 2020.

In the past year, I’ve learned a lot from wildfire litigation. The wheels of justice may move slowly, but they do move. Communities are resilient—they rebuild, they heal—but it takes time, and it requires holding accountable those responsible for these devastating events.

Last year, I spent time in Maui meeting with victims of the Lahaina fire, which ignited in August 2023. I listened to countless stories of loss and devastation. As I returned to Maui over time, I saw familiar faces, each navigating their own path through grief and toward healing. That case is currently on hold while the Hawaii Supreme Court determines whether certain claims filed by insurers will move forward.

These experiences serve as powerful reminders of why this work matters. Recovery takes resilience, patience, and accountability—and I’m committed to helping communities through that journey.

Today on Cesar Chavez Day, we celebrate the life and legacy of a true hero for workers' rights. Chavez dedicated his life to securing fair treatment, better working conditions and just compensation for farmworkers across America.

His courage, non-violent activism and unwavering determination in the face of overwhelming odds inspired millions. Chavez once said "Non-violence is not inactivity. It is not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak...Non-violence is hard work." His struggle for justice paved the way for the farmworkers' movement and improved lives for so many.

On this day, I also want to honor my own family members who came to the United States as part of the Bracero guest worker program to find opportunities and build a better life. Like Chavez, they did the labor that kept America's systems running.

From them, I learned the true dignity in honest work and the importance of fighting for basic human rights and education. Their sacrifices, perseverance and the pride they took in their labor, no matter how grueling, will always inspire me.

We owe a profound debt of gratitude to Cesar Chavez and all those like my family who fought, worked and struggled so that future generations could have a fair chance at the American Dream. Their spirit and legacy must continue to light the way towards justice, equality and respect for all workers. ¡Sí Se Puede!

We are pleased to share that the city has reached a fair settlement of $2.9 million with the family of Dr. Hossein Samadi, who were represented by The Frantz Law Group. No amount can make up for the tragic loss of Dr. Samadi, a devoted husband, father, physician and cycling enthusiast. Dr. Samadi's passion for elder care and rehabilitation improved many lives in our community. His legacy lives on through his patients, practice, and the nursing homes he serviced. Though nothing can bring Dr. Samadi back, our thoughts remain with the Samadi family and the many people Dr. Samadi impacted.
