So excited! I’ll be speaking about next week for Latinas In Finance. Many people of color experience imposter syndrome but we don’t even know. Imposter syndrome, as I define it, is the belief that despite our successes, we don’t belong. It is the belief that what we have achieved has been pure luck or chance rather than because we earned it and worked our butts off to be where we are. It’s difficult to overcome these feelings of doubt when we are surrounded by people who don’t look like us and when we are first generation professionals, college students, etc. so grateful for the opportunity to share my story and to help other Latinx and people of color overcome their doubts.

Hope you're having a great Sunday! Here's a quote about respecting ourselves by not tolerating disrespect from someone else. It's not easy to stand up for ourselves sometimes, but if we make a strong effort, soon it will become a normal part of our life and you will feel better about yourself.

Never tolerate disrespect. The more chances you give someone the less respect they'll start to have for you. They'll begin to ignore the standards that you've set because they'll know another chance will always be given. They're not afraid to lose you because they know no matter what you won't walk....

Here's a great article on how we can learn to let go of our past so we can move forward and be happy. It's difficult, but with practice and the desire to smile with confidence every day, we can do it. Check it out:

If somebody is working on themselves and changing for the better, it's unnecessary to keep bringing up their past. People can change and grow. You know this is true. But, have you given yourself a fair chance to change and grow, too? Have you loosened your grip on the past, so you can step forward a...

We passionately represent you in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody and restraining orders. We also provide legal immigration representation, including Naturalization, DACA, U-Visa, and Asylum. OUR STORY Angelica Maria Ayar was born in San Francisco to immigrant parents from Mexico. While Angelica's parents worked double shifts to support her and her family, Angelica was raised by her grandmother, Elena. As a child, Angelica witnessed the difficulties her family experienced as undocumented immigrants. Angelica vowed to help her community and with her native ability to speak both English and Spanish, she decided to become a lawyer and start her own practice. It is her passion and commitment to helping others that is the driving force of her career and her life. ABOUT ANGELICA M. AYAR, ESQ. Angelica is a native English and Spanish speaking attorney and notary public that was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area by Mexican parents. She obtained two degrees from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). During her time in Los Angeles, she worked at Virgin America and volunteered as a mentor for young Latinas in the low-income neighborhood of East Los Angeles. In 2013, she obtained her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and was admitted into the State Bar of California that same year. As a law student, she was a member of the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal and the Race Law Students Association. She was elected as the Internal Vice President of UC Hastings' student government (ASUCH). Due to her love of oral advocacy and direct-client services, she graduated from UC Hastings with a concentration in Civil Litigation. Angelica clerked at the Law Offices of John L. Burris during her last year of law school. John Burris is well-known for his work in high-profile excessive force cases such as Rodney King, the Oakland Riders, and more recently the Oscar Grant BART shooting. As a clerk, she was part of the staff who provided support for the early stages of litigation in excessive force, personal injury, and employment cases. In this capacity, she reinforced her confidence and honed her skill set in the context of client intake and pre-trial preparation. She still maintains a relationship with the Law Offices of John Burris and the office frequently refers cases to her. Angelica is currently an active member of the San Mateo County Bar Association, and a board member of the San Mateo County Barristers section. She also servers on the Santa Clara County Bar Association Modest Means Panel and is a volunteer Attorney at Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, assisting low-income asylum and refugee clients. During her free time, she enjoys baking and spending time with her family.
