Brian Mylar, Realtor with Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper

Brian Mylar, Realtor with Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper Brian Mylar is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper Realtors in San Antonio. I specialize in North Central San Antonio but will work anywhere.

I was a television news reporter and anchor for 30 years before retiring and getting into real estate full time. I had my license active several years before actually starting to become a full time REALTOR. I like it because I still get to get out and meet people and make things happen. Getting results for my clients is very similar to getting action in a television news story. I'm a graduate of T

exas A&M University with a Bachelors of Business (Marketing) degree and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Arts degree (Journalism). That makes me an AgHorn. I'm proud of both schools and have enjoyed living and working in Texas for most of the past 40 years. I have six children, including two sets of twins. I'm active in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cub Scout Pack 500 and in a number of sports and dance organizations involving my children.

Still smiling from a great Easter weekend filled with good food, good company, and time with family. From a rainy Saturday crawfish boil with a fun twist, ravioli soaked in all that flavor, to getting to see most of my six kids on Easter Sunday, it was a weekend full of memories I’ll be grateful for.

Checking out a newer spot on the Northside, 6ixty Wings on Loop 1604 near Rogers Ranch Parkway is serving up a huge variety of wing flavors, plus burgers, wraps, quesadillas, and even Montreal-style poutine. Service is still finding its footing, but the portions are generous, the honey barbecue chicken strips were tasty, and it’s definitely a place worth trying for a casual bite.

A friendly reminder this spring to take care of a few simple home maintenance items before the season gets too busy. Changing A/C filters, cleaning gutters, checking caulking, replacing detector batteries, and trimming landscaping may not be exciting, but they can help prevent bigger issues later and keep your home in great shape. If you’ve been putting a few of these off, this is a good time to get them done. What is one thing on your spring home checklist you still need to tackle?

April Fools’ Day has been making people laugh for centuries, even if its exact beginnings are still a bit of a mystery. Some believe it traces back to calendar changes in Europe, while others connect it to ancient spring festivals full of humor and disguise. However it started, April 1 has become the day for playful pranks, harmless fun, and not believing everything you hear right away.

We stopped by Lazarita’s on WW White on a Monday afternoon, and the packed parking lot told us right away this place was probably worth trying. They had lunch specials starting at $4.99, I went with the $5.99 soft tacos, and my buddy had the huevos rancheros with sausage. The prices were good, the service was great, and it turned out to be a nice South Side spot for lunch.

Looking back, one of the highlights of our spring break trip to Port Aransas was dinner at Virginia’s right on the marina. We enjoyed seafood, chicken, and salads while looking out at the boats, and even with a little wait that Wednesday evening, it was one of those simple moments that made the beach getaway with my youngest set of twins so special.

Behind every great Lenten Fish Fry is a whole lot of hard work, heart, and community. Every Friday during Lent, the Knights of Columbus Council 9967 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church come together to serve up fried fish, baked fish, fish tacos, and all the sides—green beans, french fries, coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese—with more than 300 plates sold each week, and every dollar raised going to charity. We’d love to see you there!
