Count the hours you actually led last week.
Not managed. Not fixed. Not answered. Led. Coaching, recruiting, growing your people.
Grab last week’s calendar and fill in four numbers:
___ hours on my own deals
___ hours running operations
___ hours on marketing
___ hours leading my people
For most leaders, leading is the smallest number on the page. Not because they don’t care. Because everything else gets louder.
Here’s the thing: your team can only grow as fast as your leadership hours. So the fix isn’t working more. It’s moving hours from the bottom three lines to the last one.
Three ways to start this week:
Hand off your biggest time drain first. For most leaders it’s transactions. Whatever eats the most hours goes first, even if nobody does it quite like you.
Put leadership on the calendar like a listing appointment. A weekly 1:1 or team huddle that doesn’t move when things get busy.
Answer it once. The question your agents ask you most? Write it down, make it a checklist, and stop being the only place the answer lives.
Run the numbers again next week. If the last line grew, you’re building a team. If it didn’t, you’re still the team.
We’re a team of teams. Our leaders get the operations, marketing, and training handled so they can lead. Want to see what that looks like? Link in bio.
