An important event is happening in San Antonio this week!

This Wednesday, October 21, the South Texas Adult Protective Services Community Board is hosting its 2026 Symposium on Elder Abuse and Financial Exploitation.

At Bertsch & Boze, protecting older adults and people with disabilities is close to our hearts. We’re grateful for opportunities like this that bring our community together to help keep vulnerable people safe.

This weekend was World Mental Health Day, a day that is so important to us.

Life can bring tough transitions, and navigating family decisions can take a toll. Being there to support families through those moments is a huge part of who we are.

We also believe that divisive rhetoric and hostility go against everything we stand for. As a community, we need to remember how our words and actions can affect the mental health of those around us, especially someone whose lives or beliefs may differ from our own. Kindness and empathy matter more than ever.

This belief in treating every person with dignity and compassion is so important to Carol. It’s part of why she started this firm and why recognizing World Mental Health Day means so much to all of us.

We’ve all done it. Asked AI a question, gotten an answer that sounded very confident, and thought, “Well, that seems right,” and it’s not.

AI can be a great tool, but when the decisions involve your family, future, and the law, a confident answer isn’t the same thing as an experienced one.

That’s why we’ll always be Team People. Before the warnings start piling up (or the cat gets involved 😂), talk to someone who knows your situation and can give you real guidance.

Happy Friday!

Our team got to spend time with attorney Shekinah Hammonds Davis and her team, where she invited us for lunch and a chance to visit and collaborate.

We talk a lot about how much our community matters to our firm, and this is part of what we mean. Getting to sit at a table with people we respect, share ideas, learn from each other, laugh, and build real relationships is something we truly value.

Shekinah has created a place where you feel welcome the minute you walk in, and we’re so thankful she opened her doors to us! We had a great time and will absolutely be back.
