Did you know? One of San Antonio’s most beautiful historic neighborhoods was named after a king?
The King William District was named after Wilhelm I, King of Prussia! 🇩🇪
Developed by German immigrants in the 1800s, the neighborhood became known for its grand homes, beautiful architecture, and tree-lined streets.
Here's something even more interesting! During World War I, King William Street was temporarily renamed Pershing Avenue because of anti-German sentiment. The original name was eventually restored!
In 1968, King William became San Antonio’s first designated historic district, helping preserve its beautiful architecture and rich history for generations to come!
Today, King William remains one of San Antonio's most charming historic neighborhoods.
