A $50 million state grant will help Herriman build three roads serving Olympia, but the funding requires the 6,480-unit community to include 2,500 qualifying owner-occupied homes. Instead of income or price limits, affordability will be encouraged through smaller homes and lots, including at least 1,250 detached single-family homes. Paxton Guymon, general counsel for Edge Homes, calls the initiative a “grand experiment” in addressing Utah’s housing affordability crisis.
