She mediates commercial and family disputes of all types. She is known for her ability to work with complex legal issues and highly emotional cases. Her broad based experience originated with her role as Chief Appellate Mediator at the Utah Court of Appeals where she assisted the court in creating and operating the court’s appellate mediation office. Prior to serving as mediator, Karin was Bar Cou
nsel at the Utah State Bar and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah School of Law. In 2004, she received the Peter W. award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She have published several articles on mediation and have conducted numerous trainings in mediation, negotiation and mediation advocacy for the American Bar Association, the Oregon Bar, the Colorado Bar, the Utah State Bar and the International Academy of Mediators. In May 2011, I became the Vice President of the International Academy of Mediators, an extraordinary group of professional mediators. In May 2012, she began teaching as and Adjunct Professor of Law at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School. Spring Semester of 2020, she taught Conflict Resolution Systems at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. March 18, 2021, she began teaching an mediating virtually and has found many benefits to virtual mediation.
