This is our case! I need people to first to understand that this was done exactly in accordance with immigration law. The Colombian Consulate, run by the Department of State has completely misunderstood two moronic executive policies. This is a seven year old child who is in Colombia with her United States Citizen Father, attending her interview. We have shown the Department of State that they are not interpreting the policies correctly. I promise they are, this one is obvious on its face. I need everyone who is willing to contact Senator John Curtis’ Office. The only way this gets fixed is by people putting their foot down. All of those who say that they, immigrants “just have to do it the right way” now have proof that people, 7 year old girls, are being blocked by this administration even when they are doing it the right way. Enough! Please contact Senator Curtis as many times as you can to get this girl home. The Consulate has stopped responding to us and we need congressional intervention!
What was supposed to be a simple trip to Colombia for Leandro Bermudez and his daughter Lucia — to help her get U.S. residency — has turned into a nightmare.
Their lawyer said U.S. officials wouldn't let the 7-year-old return home to Utah, pointing to a proclamation issued last year by President Donald Trump that’s meant to keep out terrorists and other “public safety threats.”
"Oh my gosh. We're trying to do everything we can so she can come back," said Leanys Bermudez, the brother of Leandro Bermudez and Lucia's aunt. "We're heartbroken right now."
