As we head into the 4th of July, we take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made to shape our nation — an experiment in democracy catapulted into action by the Declaration of Independence.
Lawyers don’t always get the best reputation, but the U.S. wouldn't be the same without them.
Fun Fact: Of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 25 were lawyers.
But they weren't just signers, they were the thinkers, dreamers, and movers behind the ideas that shaped our nation. 4 out of 5 of the primary drafters of the Declaration were lawyers, including Thomas Jefferson -- a lawyer of the Virginia bar and future President.
Sure, lawyer jokes are fun, but lawyers today fill just as critical of a role in establishing and maintaining the rule of law as they did 249 year ago at the birth of our nation.
Wishing you a safe and meaningful Independence Day! 🇺🇸⚖️
