All of us at Spooner Staggs support this important legislation because Oregonians deserve protection from unfair and deceptive practices—no matter the industry. It’s time to level the playing field.

Our firm was recently featured in a story by the Portland Business Journal that covers a new $28.5 million lawsuit utilizing the Oregon Supreme Court's landmark "Moody" decision. Moody changed the landscape for insurance claims in Oregon, allowing injured Oregonians to sue their reckless or uncaring insurance companies for mental health injuries and damages like PTSD and emotional distress.

At Spooner Staggs, we use our unique experience on both sides of these cases to fight for fair treatment and compensation for our seriously injured clients. Read the article to see how this ruling is making a difference for Oregonians.

Some scars can’t be seen.

And sometimes the worst damage from a traumatic event is invisible. The insurance industry is aware of the devastating long-term effects of PTSD – but they don't like to pay for it.

It’s our job to ensure that our clients get validation and justice for the very real harm they’ve experienced – even when personal injury means more than physical injury. We demonstrated our commitment last week, securing a $5.5 million award for our deserving client who is still struggling bravely to put his life back together after a car crash caused by an uninsured motorist.

We hear this is the largest award of this type against an insurer in Oregon history. We couldn’t be prouder of our client who trusted us with his future, as well as trial lawyers Tyler Staggs and Tom Spooner, and the whole Spooner Staggs team. If you have a friend, family member, or client who needs elite injury lawyers, we would be honored to have you contact us to discuss how we might be able to help.
