Marsalisi Law

Marsalisi Law Marsalisi Law is a dedicated Personal Injury law firm based in St. Petersburg, Florida. So, why waste your time when you can meet with a licensed attorney?

We serve clients throughout the Tampa Bay region who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents and other Personal Injury incidents. When I opened my law firm in 2014, I had a mandate to incorporate what I have learned from prior roles working for larger law firms—and improve on those experiences by addressing the main concerns that clients have had with those experiences. I have always prided m

yself in working closely and having excellent communication with my clients. Too often I have heard people voice the following concerns about larger law firms:

• They have never actually met their lawyer face to face.

• They cannot get their attorney to return calls or pick up the phone.

• They only speak to the lawyer’s legal assistants, paralegals or case managers when they reach out to their attorney.

• They are not kept up to date with their case. My promise is that each and every one of my clients will meet with me, and only me, during their first client interview. I will not send an “investigator” or other non-lawyer employee to meet with you—because they are not equipped to offer legal advice. I call our first meeting an "interview" because we are making sure that we are a proper fit for one another. Personal injury law is a competitive marketplace and there are many options for you to choose from—and thus it is essential to ensure that your views and goals are aligned with those of your lawyer and that you have the utmost confidence and trust in them. I often tell clients that we are a team for the duration of the case, because we must work together to achieve the desired results. I also pride myself on being accessible to clients. I will promptly return calls within 24 hours, although the majority of the time, I am on the phone within hours if not minutes following contact. While having a great support staff is important for any company, my law firm is different in that all of the legal work is done by the lawyer, not a legal assistant, case manager or paralegal. At most firms, non-lawyers generate the bulk of the work while the lawyer maintains a supervisory role to sign off on documents. At the end of the day, when you are paying law firm fees, the lawyer should be the one working hard on your behalf. At all times, my clients understand what is going on with their case. During the first client interview, I discuss the legal process and what their expectations should be. We review a chronological timeline of what to expect. In addition, I am prompt in providing clients with updates on their cases, whether good, bad or somewhere in between. Ultimately, the case is yours; therefore, you should have the most up-to-date information to make informed decisions. When I meet new people I always say the same thing: Hopefully you will never need my services, but if you ever do, please know you will be in good hands. I believe we live in paradise in the Tampa Bay area, but there are still those occasions when paradise presents dangers. Too many people are injured because of the carelessness or negligence of others, especially on our roadways and highways. While I cannot prevent you for being exposed to or victimized by these dangers, I chose the shield as my logo because I am committed to protecting your rights and shielding you from the potential pitfalls that you may confront as you navigate through the legal system; potential dangers that only an experienced and dedicated attorney would know and understand.

College students spend a lot of time on the road. They commute to class, drive between campus and work, travel home on weekends, and often share rides with friends. In St. Petersburg and throughout Florida, crowded roads, unfamiliar routes, late-night driving, and phone distractions can increase the risk of an accident.

When a college student is involved in a Florida car accident, families may have questions about insurance, medical care, vehicle ownership, and who could be held responsible.

Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year in St. Petersburg and throughout the Tampa Bay area. Between beach trips, backyard gatherings, and drivers heading home across the bridges, roads such as I-275, Gandy Boulevard, 4th Street, and the approaches to the Howard Frankland Bridge and the Skyway Bridge can become especially busy.

If you are injured in a Labor Day weekend car crash, prioritize your safety, report the accident, document what happened, and seek medical care promptly.

Holiday plans can wait.

Your health and your ability to protect a potential injury claim should come first.

Florida follows a modified comparative negligence system, which can affect your ability to recover monetary damages after an e-scooter accident.

Under this legal framework, your recovery may be reduced if you share some responsibility for the accident. However, you can still pursue a claim as long as you are not more than 50 percent at fault.

Even if you made an error while riding, you may still have a valid claim as long as another party’s negligence primarily caused the crash. Insurance companies often try to shift blame onto scooter riders to reduce their payout obligations.

They frequently claim riders were speeding, distracted, or violating traffic rules to reduce the value of your case. These arguments aim to increase your percentage of fault and decrease the amount they must pay.

Having strong legal representation helps counter these tactics and protect your right to full compensation. We work to establish that the negligent driver, company, or property owner caused your injuries, a critical factor in maximizing your final settlement or recovery.

If you are hit by a vehicle while walking in a Florida school zone, call 911, seek medical care, and document the scene as soon as it is safe. School-zone signs, flashing lights, crosswalk markings, witness statements, surveillance footage, and nearby camera recordings may all help establish how the accident occurred.

Distracted driving becomes an even greater risk during the back-to-school season because drivers face heavier traffic, unfamiliar drop-off routines, frequent school bus stops, and more children walking or biking near St. Petersburg schools.

A few seconds spent looking at a phone, adjusting directions, or turning toward a child in the back seat can be enough to miss a stopped vehicle or a student entering the roadway.

Florida school zone laws often play an important role in determining fault after an accident involving a driver, pedestrian, bicyclist, or child. If a driver was speeding, using a handheld phone, ignoring a crosswalk, or improperly passing a stopped school bus, that violation may help show that the driver failed to operate the vehicle safely.

However, being injured near a school does not automatically establish who was responsible. The circumstances of the accident, available evidence, and actions of everyone involved must still be reviewed.

If a teen driver causes an accident in Florida, the teen may be legally responsible for the damage. Depending on the teen’s age, who signed the driver’s license application, who owns the vehicle, and the available insurance coverage, a parent or another adult may also be held responsible.

School zones become significantly busier when St. Petersburg students return to class because traffic patterns change almost overnight. School buses are back on the road, drop-off lines grow longer, and more children are walking or biking through neighborhood streets.

Drivers who are distracted, rushed, or unfamiliar with a school’s traffic pattern may not react quickly enough when a vehicle stops or a child enters the roadway.
