🚨 NEW FLORIDA LAWS & IMPORTANT CHANGES YOU SHOULD KNOW!🚨

At Fancy Nancy Professional Services, we believe part of serving our community is helping people stay informed, educated and aware.

Several Florida laws take effect TODAY, October 1, 2026, covering everything from traffic crashes and housing fraud to criminal offenses, background screenings, public safety and more.

⚖️ Some of the October 1 changes include:

🚗 SB 488— Crash-reporting threshold increases from $500 to $2,000, plus clarification regarding license plate frames and borders.

🚫 HB 397 — New criminal penalties for certain violations of pretrial release no-contact orders.

🏠 HB 1293 — Felony penalties involving fraudulent entry and possession of residential rental property.

🐾 HB 559— Enhanced penalties involving minors and aggravated animal cruelty.

📱 HB 429 — Changes to Florida's criteria for criminal gang identification, including certain online activity.

⚠️ SB 432 — New restrictions and penalties involving nitrous oxide and xylazine.

👧🏽 HB 1525 — Creates a felony offense involving specified lewd or sexual conduct while observing a child under 16.

🚘 SB 246— Changes involving specialty license plates, including new plates and financial-reporting requirements.

📧 SB 488 / SB 490 — Changes involving electronic DHSMV notices and privacy protections for certain email addresses.

There are also other important 2026 changes with different effective dates, including HB 757 involving fi***rm discharge near schools, HB 1069 involving background screenings, HB 277 involving a Pinellas County/Sixth Judicial Circuit electronic-monitoring pilot program and Florida's minimum wage increasing to $15 per hour on September 30.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Pinellas MYcroSchool Charter High School!

Today I had the pleasure of spending time with the amazing students and staff at Pinellas MYcroSchool Charter High School as part of the Great American Teach-In and what an incredible experience it was!

From the moment I stepped into the classroom, the students were engaged, curious and ready to participate. Their questions, conversations and knowledge truly impressed me. It was inspiring to see young people who are eager to learn, share their thoughts, and think about their future.

Pinellas MYcroSchool Charter High School provides students with personalized learning opportunities and a supportive environment designed to help students reach their goals. It was an honor to be welcomed into a school community that is committed to helping students learn, grow and prepare for their future.

Today, I walked into that classroom not just as a business owner 🫣, but as someone who remembers being a young person trying to figure out my own path. Sometimes all a child needs is to see someone who believes in them, someone who has overcome obstacles and someone who will look them in the eyes and say, “You can do this.”

A huge thank you to the administration, teachers, and staff for allowing me the opportunity to share my time, my experiences and my encouragement with your students. I truly love giving back because our young people deserve to be supported, encouraged and reminded that their voices and dreams matter.

The Great American Teach-In is such a powerful opportunity for community members, business owners, professionals and everyday people to step into our schools and make an impact. You never know how one conversation, one story, or one moment of encouragement can inspire a student.

I encourage everyone to consider participating! The next Great American Teach-In is November 18th at schools throughout our community.
