Memorial Day is more than a three-day weekend; it is a solemn day of remembrance for the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸

Today, Provet Legal pauses to honor the fallen.

Our mission is rooted in serving the military community, and on this day, we reflect on the profound debt of gratitude we owe to those who never returned home. We also hold in our hearts the Gold Star families whose lives were forever changed by that sacrifice. At Provet Legal, seeing the resilience of these families is a primary driving force behind why we do what we do.

Freedom is not free, and today we remember the brave souls who paid its highest price.

To all who wear the uniform, today we salute you.

May 16 is Armed Forces Day. 🇺🇸

This day is a special opportunity for us to come together and offer a collective "thank you" to the brave men and women currently serving in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

At Provet Legal, we are honored to work for our service members and their families every day. We see your dedication to our country and the sacrifices you make to keep our nation strong. Your commitment is the foundation of our freedom, and we are proud to stand as your advocates here at home.

May 13 is Children of the Fallen Patriots Day. 🕊️🇺🇸

At Provet Legal, we work daily with veterans and their families, and we see firsthand the profound impact of service and sacrifice. While we can never fully repay the debt owed to those who gave their lives for our country, we can stand in the gap for their children—ensuring they are supported, recognized, and given every opportunity to thrive.

This day serves as a reminder that the cost of freedom is often borne by the smallest shoulders. We honor the legacy of their parents by advocating for the families left behind and by remembering that our commitment to our military does not end when the uniform is put away.

To the children of our fallen patriots: We see your strength, we honor your parents' memory, and we stand with you today and every day.

Behind every service member is a spouse whose strength, adaptability, and unwavering support form the true backbone of our military community.

Today, we observe Military Spouse Appreciation Day. 💐🇺🇸

At Provet Legal, this day is deeply personal. Several members of our own team are military spouses who have navigated the unique challenges of deployments, frequent moves, and the complexities of military life firsthand. This lived experience is a driving force behind everything we do. It fuels our passion for advocacy and ensures we never lose sight of the families behind the files.

We know that when a veteran is fighting for their benefits, the whole family is part of that journey. We honor the "silent strength" of spouses who manage the home front and stand as the fiercest advocates for their partners.

To our team members and all military spouses: We see your sacrifice, we value your resilience, and we thank you for your service to our country.

There’s been a lot of confusion around the VA’s May 1 update—especially about “but-for” causation.

Let’s clear up the biggest misconception:
Some people are saying this makes the standard more strict.
It’s actually the opposite.

This is a loosening of the standard. Secondary conditions are NOT going away.

“But-for” causation asks one question:
Would this condition have happened the same way if not for the service-connected disability?

If the answer is no—or not to the same degree—that connection can still qualify.

This still includes:
• Conditions caused by a service-connected disability
• Conditions worsened by a service-connected disability

What’s changed is the move away from “proximate cause.”
- It no longer has to be the primary or most direct cause
- It just has to make a real difference

The “at least as likely as not” standard still applies.
Bottom line: This makes it easier to establish the connection—not harder.
