THE POLICE WILL NOT CALL YOU OR TEXT YOU REGARDING A WARRANT - NEVER - EVER - FOR ANY REASON. AND NO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY ASKS FOR PAYMENT OVER THE PHONE, NOR DO THEY REQUEST THAT YOU MEET THEM SOMEWHERE.
If you receive a phone call or text that you have a warrant for a traffic ticket, missed jury dury, or anything else.......................IT IS A SCAM. Hang up. The police do not do this. If you miss a court date or have a ticket - mail is the ONLY way you will be contacted. I know they sound convincing, and they usually have some personal information about you, but they prey on the fear of the people who are not criminals and have no experience in the court system. The police simply do not do this - ever. Two of my employees have received calls recently. Obviously, they knew it was a scam and pressed the caller for information. The caller gave them judges' names, and a supposed badge number. These callers research this information in the local area to sound legitimate. THE POLICE WILL NOT CALL YOU ABOUT THESE TYPES OF MATTERS.
If you receive one of these calls, and you're still not sure - then tell them you will call them back and call your local police department - or call my office. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION OR MONEY!!!!!
