📸 We’re Updating Our Property Photos! 📸

The Blackberry Township Assessor’s Office is conducting an exterior property photo project throughout the township as part of preparations for the 2027 General Reassessment.

Staff will be photographing residences, garages, sheds, barns, and other exterior structures to help maintain accurate and up-to-date property records. Work is currently underway in the Mill Creek area and will continue throughout other neighborhoods, subdivisions, and rural areas over time.

Staff can be identified by:
📛 Official Identification badges
🦺 Yellow safety vests marked “Blackberry Township”
🚙 A Ford Explorer displaying township identification magnets

Whenever possible, photographs will be taken from public roadways or easily accessible areas. Depending on property layout and visibility, staff may occasionally enter driveways, walkways, or other exterior areas in order to obtain photographs of structures.

Chai Tea, Community, and Comps ☀️

My morning started at Maple Leaf Coffee House with some of my fellow St. Charles Chamber members. Supporting local businesses is at the heart of what I do, and it was wonderful to catch up with many of the bright minds that make the Fox Valley area so special.

A delicious cup of Chai Tea was exactly what I needed before heading to a potential sellers' beautiful home. I'm very thankful to the homeowner for giving me a home tour, pointing out all the unique features, and allowing me time to take the property notes I'll need to provide the most accurate home valuation. Every property is different and seeing it in person is the first step in building a successful selling strategy.

Now, I'm in front of my computer putting the final touches on the Comprehensive Market Analysis (CMA) I put together after this afternoon's home tour. My report will provide this potential seller the clear, data-driven insights needed to move forward with confidence.

The time has come, Kane County property taxes for 2025 (payable in 2026) are now available to view online. Follow the link below to view your tax bill before it hits your mailbox. If you are in need of your property PIN number for this search, reach out and I can send it your way.

My suggestion: review your bill and ensure you have filed for ANY and ALL exemptions your quality for. Exemptions to consider: ~ Homeowners Exemption (can be claimed on one home in Illinois that you own and occupy)
~ Senior Exemption (Homeowners aged 65+ who own and occupy their property as their primary residence)
~ Senior Freeze (homeowners 65+ who meet the income criteria)
~ Disabled Vet (honorably discharged veterans should consult Kane County Assessor for details)
~ Home Improvement Exemption (homeowners should consult Kane County Assessor for more details).

Two tours. One "Yes." 🔑
