You've dropped the kids off at school, coming home to an unpaid bill juggling which one gets paid this month.
The lights don't care that child support is late. Not the AC, or the water.
Thirsty?
When utilities go unpaid, there's no long process.
Lights out.
AC out.
Water off.
In Florida. In summer. With kids.
Dial 211? Catholic Charities? Legal Aid?
The no-help help lines. All optics. Non-existent.
Housing, utilities, food, medical care are not optional. Basic requirements for living.
Now look at child support the same way.
Yes — get a job. Most of us already have one. Some have two.
The math is the math.
More often than not, one income does not cover rent, water, electricity, gas, groceries, medical expenses, and everything it takes to raise children.
Not even close.
Child support, alimony, and court-ordered payments exist to cover that gap.
And when those payments aren't made — you don't get to say "I can't pay ."
That's a luxury reserved for people who left.
Rent is due the 1st. Every month. In full, without exception.
Hungry?
Growing kids eat — not a bowl of cereal, a whole box. Did your boy grow 2 feet this year too? The list doesn't stop.
It all shifts onto one person.
Then the unaccountable show up to the hearing with a fresh Daytona Beach weekend tan, new clothes, and the girlfriend.
No explanation. No remorse. Just vibes.
Defense? "I can't pay 🥹"
Pathetic.
Then enforcement turns into step after step, delay after delay, and by the time anything actually happens, the financial damage is already done.
Hold them accountable.
Accept nothing less than what you are legally owed.
You don't have the luxury of taking time off work to accommodate someone who won't comply.
I've been in this fight for five years. I know how it works and I know how to push back.
