Obituary forChrist Anagnost
Christ Anagnost passed away surrounded by his beloved family on April 13 at the age of 90.
Christ, born Christ Anagnostopulos, was born on October 2, 1935, in Saginaw, Michigan to Greek immigrant parents, Athanasios Anagnostopulos and Angeline Papalexiou. He is survived by his beloved wife, Olga Anagnost; his sons, Athanasios “Tommy” Anagnost, Nicholas “Niko” Anagnost, Constantine “Deno” Anagnost; his daughter, Angela Repke, and her husband, Brad Repke. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Arianna and Anderson, who will hold fond memories of their “Papou.”
With integrity, passion, and love, Christ cultivated a rich life centered on his family and friends. He was a proud graduate of Wayne State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts, and then a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Wayne State Law School on June 22, 1961. From there, Christ practiced law in his community of Saginaw, Michigan for over 50 years as a respected member of the State Bar of Michigan. Known for his charisma, honesty, and commitment to helping the underdog, he made a lasting impact on both his profession and his community.
Beyond his career, Christ was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was a competitive golfer, an avid hunter, and a devoted reader and writer. He and his family were long-standing members of the Saginaw Country Club, where many lasting friendships bloomed.
Christ was deeply devoted to his Greek faith and community. He was a pivotal figure at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where he served in numerous roles. Among his many contributions, he was especially proud to be one of the founders of the Greek Festival of Saginaw. His family volunteered together in the legendary gyro tent where great memories were made. He was also an active member of the Order of A.H.E.P.A., Saginaw Valley Chapter #216.
At the heart of Christ’s life was his love for his family, especially his wife, Olga, who he adored every day. They shared a loving marriage of 54 years. Their love story began with a simple but meaningful gesture—a single rose given to Olga every Monday after they first met—symbolizing a lifetime of devotion.
Christ’s greatest attributes were his authenticity, wit, and integrity, and his legacy will continue with his children and grandchildren. He instilled in them a strong work ethic, sincerity, and passion for all that they do. Tommy, Nick, and Deno cherish memories and lessons on the golf course with their dad, while Angela is forever grateful for her inherited love of the written word. He would say that his greatest achievement was his family and he was forever proud of them. Christ will be remembered as a fiercely loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose life was defined by service, generosity, and love.
