The National Health Law Program's Doula Medicaid Project wants to hear from all doulas in California! Join us in building collective power through research by taking the California Doula Workforce Survey.

If you are a doula or birthworker in California we want to hear from you! This survey will help us create a snapshot of what the doula workforce is like in California. Knowing this information can help policymakers, state and local agencies, and advocates know where the doula workforce needs more support and resources.

This survey is for any doula or birthworker in California. We want to hear from private doulas, volunteer doulas, Medi-Cal provider doulas, doulas with on-the-job experience and doulas with training from an organization, and anyone who identifies as a doula or birthworker. You can opt-in to a raffle for a $200 gift card at the end of the survey.

This survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Survey responses are anonymous. NHeLP staff will have access to your name and email address only for purposes of the gift card raffle and/or to add you to our listserv at your request. This survey will close March 31, 2024.

Y’all!

This week, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Family First Sacramento guaranteed income pilot program. Approximately 200 African American and Native American families will receive a basic income of $725 every month for a year. This money specifically targets families with children ages 0-5 living in Valley High, Florin, North Sac, Del Paso and Arden Arcade.

In partnership with United Way, this pilot program will assist families with young children who are in need of economic supports and help to ensure their income stability. Congratulations to Commissioner Michelle Callejas and her team at the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services (DCFAS) for launching this program in Sacramento County.

ABC Channel 10 covered the story.

County officials say its program will help about 200 low-income families in the county with a basic income of $725 each month for a year.
