Interviews are the heart of a Title IX investigation. But what happens when the witness across from you processes, communicates, or engages differently than you expect?

Neurodivergent witnesses may avoid eye contact, pause for extended periods, speak non-linearly, or present in ways that can be misread as uncooperative or less credible. Without awareness of how neurological differences show up in an interview setting, investigators risk flawed credibility assessments — and a compromised investigation.

In her latest VM blog, attorney investigator Olivia Totten breaks down what neurodivergence looks like in practice, what accommodations can help, and why getting this right is essential to a fair and thorough Title IX process. Read the full blog here 👇
