Why CCPA Compliance Alone Leaves You Exposed

"A legal exposure you probably have not budgeted for could very well dwarf your data privacy compliance costs – and it stems from a law most business leaders have never heard of."

Your business is probably CCPA compliant.

Privacy policy – check.
"Do Not Sell" link – check.
Opt-out honored – check.

You still might not be protected.

There's a second California privacy law – one most businesses have never heard of – that operates on a completely different standard. And it's behind thousands of lawsuits targeting companies that thought they were covered.

Klinedinst PC is a thought leader in C**A litigation. James D. Snyder and Joshua Heiman wrote the breakdown.

Here's where to start:

Klinedinst PC joined fellow attorneys and legal leaders this month at the GOOD Guys program, hosted by the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) and Lawyers Club of San Diego, for discussions centered around allyship, leadership, and inclusion in the legal profession.

The CLE presentation featured a distinguished panel including Teresa Beck (Klinedinst PC), Robert Shaughnessy (Klinedinst PC), Hon. Hon. Randa M. Trapp (Ret.), Gino Capozzi (Sony), and Phil Stephan (Meyers Nave), who shared insights on expanding opportunities for attorneys from underrepresented groups and creating pathways to leadership within law firms and corporate legal departments.

Panelists also discussed strategies for generating opportunities, encouraging dialogue, and building more inclusive workplace cultures across the legal industry.

Inspired by the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations, GOOD Guys - “Guys who are Generating Opportunities and Opening Dialogue” - promotes male allyship and supports a more inclusive professional environment for all.

Klinedinst PC Recognizes Transgender Day of Visibility By Providing Free Support Resource Guide

At Klinedinst PC, we recognize and support Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31st, reminding our colleagues, clients, family, and friends that visibility and respect matter. Many still face discrimination, violence, and legal barriers.

We believe every person deserves to be protected, represented, and respected, regardless of gender identity.

To help support this effort, we are providing free resources for the transgender and non-binary communities, and their allies.

These resources include facts on gender affirming care and how to access health care that supports mental, physical, and emotional well being. You will also find support for families and professionals in the regions in which we practice and live.

Access our free resource guide to stay informed, support others, and take meaningful steps toward inclusion:

Week 4 of our Women’s History Month series.

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’re sharing our final post in this series, but the impact and contributions of women in law extend far beyond a single month.

We’re highlighting shareholders from our Las Vegas and Seattle offices:
• Natalie Vance — Las Vegas
• Mary DePaolo Haddad — Seattle
• Petra Ambrose — Seattle

Through their work, these attorneys contribute to the strength of our firm and the clients and communities we serve.

Their leadership reflects a broader legacy of women shaping the highest levels of the judiciary. Elena Kagan, a U.S. Supreme Court Justice and former Solicitor General, has played a key role in interpreting and shaping federal law. Amy Coney Barrett, also a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, represents another generation of women serving at the highest level of the judicial system.

While this series may be coming to an end, the work, leadership, and influence of women across our firm and the legal profession continue every day.

San Diego Tourism Authority’s Accelerator Workshop Returns to Klinedinst PC

Klinedinst PC again hosted the San Diego Tourism Authority’s (SDTA) annual Accelerator Workshop at its San Diego office, bringing together local entrepreneurs for practical legal guidance and actionable insights.

In partnership with SDTA, the firm welcomed the 2026 Accelerator cohort of 15 entrepreneurs, each focused on community impact and environmental sustainability. The workshop provided valuable discussion on legal issues critical to business operations and growth.

Klinedinst attorneys Teresa Beck (Host/Introduction), Lindsey Casillas (Employment), Matthew D. Batista, Esq. (Corporate), and Joshua Heiman (Data Privacy) led sessions on employment law developments, transactional matters, securities, and technology-related issues, equipping attendees with strategies to navigate an evolving legal landscape.

Klinedinst PC is proud to continue its collaboration with SDTA to support the region’s entrepreneurial community and help businesses build strong foundations for long-term success.

We were pleased to work with this year’s Accelerator participants, including:

Baja Society Tours, Black San Diego, Empowering our Community, Binational Race, Let's Car'raoke, Here Together, ICE POPS, Luna Soul Wellness (Arlene Salcedo), MM Tours, LLC, My Brain Buddies - Safe hugs, Sew Loka, Stefanie Bales Fine Art, Swil Arts, The Vinho, Vizcarra's Macarons, and Worthy Picks.

Progress in the legal profession is driven by women who lead with insight, advocate with purpose, and help shape the future of the law.

We’re highlighting shareholders from our Klinedinst PC Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Diego offices:
• Neeru Jindal — Los Angeles
• Imbar Sagi-Lebowitz — Los Angeles
• Lindsey Casillas — Sacramento
• Kristin Blake — Sacramento
• Carey Cooper — San Diego

Each of these attorneys brings a distinct perspective and a shared commitment to excellence, strengthening our firm and the clients we serve.

Their work builds on the legacy of trailblazers who have expanded the definition of leadership in law. Charlotte E. Ray, the first Black woman attorney in the United States, broke barriers in the 19th century and paved the way for greater inclusion in the legal profession. Today, leaders like Kamala Harris continue that legacy, demonstrating the impact legal professionals can have at every level of leadership.

Throughout March, we continue highlighting women shareholders across our offices who are helping shape the next chapter of the profession.

California Governor Newsom has signed Executive Order N-30-27, changing the legal requirements for residential unlawful detainers. The Order, signed on March 27, 2020 in response to the pandemic, serves to harmonize the patchwork of changes to residential evictions imposed by counties across the state. A new analysis by Shareholder Ian A. Rambarran discusses how the Order changes the process by which unlawful detainer lawsuits can be filed, and changes the eviction process by the Sheriff.
