Usher just turned 47 years old today. Many people don't know that he has spent most of his life using his success to help kids. When he was 20 years old, he and his mother Jonnetta Patton founded the nonprofit "Usher's New Look."

Since 1999, Usher's New Look has invested over $29 million in programs that help kids and has served more than 60,000 youth worldwide. Behind that number are thousands of lives his nonprofit has changed forever. They help kids learn about money, find mentors, build leadership skills, and take the next step toward college or a career.

Usher said, "I was blessed to find my spark early in life... I wanted to provide those same opportunities for other youth." That spark grew into something much bigger than music, and he continues to give young people the support they need to build brighter futures. Happy birthday Usher. 👏

Many folks in Clay County know Art Sanders as the man who brought an abandoned pecan orchard back to life!It was not until after he signed the deed on the 46-acre parcel 5 miles south of West Point in 1999 that Sanders learned what he had acquired. Aerial property photos revealed rows of trees, showing the previous owner had planned the orchard and planted pecan trees there in the mid-1980s—even augmenting it with an irrigation system and a well—before walking away from it.“I didn’t realize it was a pecan orchard because there were so many other cedars and pines everywhere,” Sanders recalls. “I had no notion of being a pecan farmer at all. I just wanted to have some land to give me a purpose after I retired.”
He moved back to Mississippi in 2013 after a 30-plus year career in Chicago, Illinois as a firefighter. He didn't waste any time and began clearing land, ripping up bad trees, and nursing the surviving ones to health until they began to bear fruit.
The orchard—nearly 800 trees—is now the official home of Lindy’s Pecans, named after Sanders’s wife, and boasts 10 pecan varieties, including Desirable, Pawnee, and Lakota.
Along the way, he has used a variety of resources offered by the Mississippi State University Extension Service to his benefit—and he still does. He’s a regular attendee of Extension’s field day events, and he often uses the MSU Extension soil testing lab, which provides analyses and nutrient management recommendations for different soils and plant tissues.

FORMER PRESIDENT OBAMA: "The point is that we have blown through just in the last six months, a whole range of of not not simply assumptions, but rules and laws and practices that were put in place to ensure that, you know, nobody's above the law and that we don't use the federal government to simply reward our friends and and punish our enemies.

And the same thing's obviously happening in the Justice Department. So people are right to be concerned. The interesting thing and what I've been trying to do when I've been speaking about this publicly is just to remind folks. And just as was true during the McCarthy era and has been true throughout our history what's required in these situations is a few folks standing up and giving courage to other folks, and then more people stand up and kind of go like, yeah, no, that's that's not who we are. That's not, that's not, that's not our idea of America. We don't want masked, you know, folks with rifles and machine guns patrolling our streets."

BREAKING: The Supreme Court destroys MAGA conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' last hope by REJECTING has last-ditch effort to throw out the $1.4 billion judgement from his vile Sandy Hook lies.

For once, the highest court got it right...

Jones was desperately hoping that the court would overturn the decision from a Connecticut case that resulted in a jury slamming him with a $964 million judgement after missing discovery deadlines and court orders. That was followed by a $473 million in punitive damages.

The case stemmed from Jones' disgusting efforts to paint the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting — in which 20 children and 6 teachers were killed — as some kind of hoax involving "crisis actors." As money flowed into his bank account from conservative viewers and listeners eager to believe his lies, the parents and families of the victims were inundated with harassment and death threats.

The Supreme Court did not comment on this latest order and they issued it without making the families of the Sandy Hook victims respond to the appeal, sparing them any more trauma. This has been a seemingly endless ordeal for all of them, and they deserve to finally have some peace.

As we celebrate this decision it's worth pointing out why Jones was able to make so much money off of spreading deranged lies. Republicans were eager to believe that the shooting was fabricated because it spared them from the trouble of addressing the real and obvious cause behind this tragedy: the widespread, easy availability of fi****ms. They'd rather embrace a baroque, nonsensical narrative than consider common sense gun laws.

BREAKING: Former President Barack Obama INCINERATES Donald Trump for his fascist National Guard deployments in American cities, calling it a "politicization of the military" and "inherently corrupting."

Obama is done holding back...

“It wasn’t controversial for me to go to other countries and say, ‘You know what? It’s a good idea for militaries to be under civilian control,’ because when you have military that can direct force against their own people, that is inherently corrupting,” Obama said to Marc Maron on the “WTF" podcast.

The former president went on to say that the Trump Administration is working towards "what looks like a deliberate end run around” of laws that are supposed to prevent the military from being used for civilian police work.

"That is a genuine effort to weaken how we have understood democracy,” said Obama.

Trump's efforts to abuse his powers over the National Guard have escalated in recent weeks, with Portland and Chicago in particular becoming flashpoints for his authoritarianism. His ability to do so is still being battled out in the courts. Over the weekend, a federal appeals court temporarily lifted a judge's block on his efforts to federalize the Illinois national Guard while leaving in place a block on his ability to deploy it to Chicago.

The entire affair is an insulting farce, because it's blatantly obvious that our convicted felon of a president isn't genuinely interested in combating "lawlessness." He's the most corrupt and criminal president in history. What he's interested in is seizing more power for himself, terrorizing his political enemies, and acclimatizing the American people to the sight of armed troops on their streets.

“If I had sent in the National Guard into Texas and just said, ‘You know what? A lot of problems in Dallas, a lot of crime there, and I don’t care what Governor Abbott says, I’m going to kind of take over law enforcement, because I think things are out of control,’ it is mind boggling to me how Fox News would have responded,” said Obama.

“We don’t want masked folks with rifles and machine guns patrolling our streets,” he added. “We want cops on the beat who know the neighborhood and the kids around, and that’s how we keep the peace around here.”
