Looking for legal work rooted in purpose, service, and community?

California Indian Legal Services is hiring a Staff Attorney in Bishop, CA to support Tribal communities through direct legal services and community‑based advocacy. In this role, you’ll focus primarily on bankruptcy, estate planning, and mobile homeowner rights, helping protect housing stability and prevent displacement.

You’ll also collaborate with Tribes and Tribal organizations, lead community education efforts, and support outreach that expands access to justice throughout the Eastern Sierra. Your work strengthens long‑term legal service capacity while honoring lived experience and Tribal sovereignty.

This is an in‑person position in our Eastern Office, Monday through Friday. A relocation stipend may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

California Indian Legal Services is hiring a Staff Attorney in Bishop, CA to provide essential legal services in bankruptcy, estate planning, and mobile homeowner rights, along with broader work in federal Indian law, tenant rights, consumer protection, and public benefits.
In this in‑person role, you’ll deliver direct legal services, lead community education, support homeowner‑focused outreach, and build strong relationships with Tribes and Tribal organizations.
