My Northeast Roadshow is in full swing! I visited our beautiful Rye and Scarsdale offices and talked with dozens of Raveis agents, managers, and marketing teams with more gatherings planned over the coming weeks.
Thanks to Susan Reische and Athena Kelly, we had 2 terrific sales meetings on Thursday. With Susan and our Rye agents, we had an interactive discussion about my book, the cycle of the pandemic, ransomware, and my health condition in 2020. It's rewarding to be able to share my personal philosophy and the company philosophy with you at these meetings and in our Up Close and Personal videos. At our sales meeting in Rye and Scarsdale, I talked about the marketplace. In a normal market, inventory ebbs and flows and, on average, people live in the same house for 8 years (NAR). But during the pandemic, we experienced a phenomenon: A majority of expired and canceled listings rolled back into the marketplace and buyers were willing to pay "any price" for them. We are the only brokerage that has ever looked at the data this way. On top of high interest rates and tremendous buyer demand, the housing shortage from 2020-21 continues to have an impact on inventory. As I mentioned last week, we are developing exciting new analytics, including a new bid tool to help you attain 80th percentile to win a bidding situation-stay tuned.
