So Many New Law Firm Openings - The Salaries and Overall Compensation in other parts of the economy have supposedly gone slightly down, according to Jerome Powell over the last quarter. In the Legal Field, or at least with the Law Firm Clients we have, we have experienced the exact opposite. The Law Firm Openings we are currently looking to fill, across the board, have all gone up in salary, and/or total compensation. We do not have even have 1 opening for the same position that we placed within 6 or a year ago that is less in salary and/or compensation than they have ever been. Every single Law Firm Opening (Apples to Apples) at the very least is going for the same salary it was anytime over the past year. I write that to give complete transparency. We are always 100%, and 100% confidential. Out of the 50-60 active openings who we are looking to send resumes of potential candidates to immediately, candidates who are interested, and have the experience which aligns perfectly with what our client is looking for less than 10 openings are at least the same salary they were at anytime in the past. 80% plus have base salaries and/or total compensation that is more, often a significant amount more than they have ever been for that position at any time in the past. A very good majority of the current openings we are looking to fill, and what I mean by current openings is that we have spoken with the owner or whoever handles setting up interviews for potential candidates they have expressed they are interested in and want to interview immediately within the last week, or two weeks with long time clients I know that when we email them a new resume they will respond within an hour usually, many of these clients we text regularly (sometimes daily or every other day). Many of these clients we have worked with for so many years, some over a decade, and have placed so many legal professionals (Attorneys, Firm Directors, Senior and Partner Attorneys, Paralegals, Firm Administrators, Office Managers, Litigation Professionals, etc.) with, met for coffee, lunch, a few family events, baby showers, etc. that really we have become close friends over the years. A lot of these fantastic opportunities are from owners, firm admin., etc., they are friends, and they are still great clients. A lot of the openings we have from clients that have become friends, others who are long time clients, and others who are newer clients, etc. we have openings with that are all incredible opportunities, greater opportunities then ever, this definitely means greater compensation, career growth potential, depending on the position potentially more than twice as much compensation as you were making (Often times not immediately). We recently placed two attorneys who are now making the exact same base salary they were making before after years with the same firm with a flawless work history, and now they are making the same exact base salary as before, but in addition they are making compensation based on results. In both employments I believe, and it has been confirmed in the past with these positions that both attorneys will within 3 years be making more from their bonuses than from their salary, meaning they will be making over double what they are making now, and they will continue to make more and more with each year. Months ago, and this is extremely rare, we placed a legal professional from an area of law that was getting “Lean and mean.” Unfortunately for this legal professional it was last hired first let go. We were able to place this candidate in a position with one of the most prestigious law firms in the state, in a totally different area of law, much closer commute for them (From 45 min to an hour each way every day, to 5-10 min each way every day) for a slightly greater salary with a law firm that without a doubt isn’t going anywhere. One of our absolute favorite things is when an ex applicant calls us to say “Thank you. I love this firm. I love everyone here. I am so happy. Thank you so much. I will send you anybody I know from a different firm who is looking for a greater opportunity.” Then when they send a friend years later, after they have and continue to work at the firm we placed them at, and are still thrilled working with the firm we placed them with years ago, and want to work until the day they retire at the firm we placed them with puts a smile on our faces. Also, being that we ended up placing their friend too, and the fact that after about 6 months this specific law firm we placed the original candidate with agreed to allowing them to work remotely a couple/few days a week also is a result we take a lot of pride in. About 1 year ago to the day we placed an attorney in a totally different area of law that they were looking to get into for about a year and could not get an interview. We had no idea they were interested in changing the area of law they practiced in. This particular candidate we spoke with many years ago, and told to call us anytime. When this candidate called we spoke about opportunities we felt aligned with their background and they did not sound interested in this field of law. Assuming they were interested in the same area of law we listed all the opportunities we currently had in that area of law, the area of law they had years of experience in. When they asked what other attorney openings we had we ran through them real quick and the candidate indicated they were interested in a specific opening we described, and explained that they had been wanting to get into this area of law for a long time. From their resume/experience we never would have thought of that as an idea this candidate might be interested in. Long story short, it ended with this candidate being hired by our client, making a whole lot more money, a much closer commute, a much nicer office, much nicer employees, and the moment we called our candidate and told them that our client will be making our candidate an offer, told the candidate the specifics, and let them know that the offer will be in their email box within the next hour they said “See! I knew I should have called you!” Again, a smile on our faces. If you are currently looking for a greater opportunity please feel free to reach out anytime. ***Not always, but often times, if the law firm client we send your resume to is interested in setting up an interview and after the interview they feel you are the right person for the job they might make you an offer right there and then. This does not always happen, and just because it doesn’t if you go on an interview that does not mean they aren’t interested and aren’t planning on making you an offer. When clients decide to hire the candidate we sent them after the interview about 50% of the time they make the offer right then.
