Who dies first could determine who gets EVERYTHING.

Consider this:

A husband has two children.
A wife has one child.

Neither spouse creates a will.

If the husband dies first, the wife usually inherits everything. When she later passes away, her child could receive the entire estate.

If the wife dies first, the exact opposite could happen.

Same family.
Same assets.
Completely different inheritance.
