**CASE DISMISSED – MANISTEE COUNTY**

After months of back-and-forth with the prosecutor’s office, countless hours of preparation, and a firm commitment to uncovering the truth, we secured a full dismissal of Criminal S*xual Conduct charges for our client in Manistee County.

A trial was set for next week — but our preparation won the battle long before we ever stepped into that courtroom. We were able to clearly show the prosecutor that they did not have a sustainable case and moving forward would be an injustice.

**INCREDIBLE RESULT IN WASHTENAW COUNTY**

The Bennett Law Firm, PLC – Compassionate Criminal Defense

I recently had the privilege of representing a client in Washtenaw County who was facing five counts of Child Abuse in the 2nd Degree — each one a 10-year felony.

The sentencing guidelines called for roughly 3 to 6 years in prison on the low end, with 10 years as the maximum.

After months of back and forth, careful preparation, and a lot of honest conversations, we were able to show the Court that my client was more than the charges against him.

He took responsibility for his actions and made real changes in his life.

When sentencing day came, I asked the Judge to look beyond punishment — to see the person, the progress and the potential.

My client is just a few days younger than me. Seeing how easily our paths could have been different was a reminder of why I do this work — because sometimes good people make mistakes, and they deserve a chance to rebuild.

The Judge agreed.

Instead of prison, my client was sentenced to five years of probation, and the no-contact order with his children was lifted, giving him the opportunity to reconnect and heal his family.

Moments like this are why I practice criminal defense — because every client has a story worth telling, and sometimes that story can change everything.

Criminal Defense | Juvenile Defense

35th District Court (Plymouth):

Our client faced a second probation violation on an OWI case before a tough judge — testing positive for alcohol again. Despite the judge leaning toward jail, we successfully argued for continued probation. The result: no jail time and another chance to get back on track.

16th Circuit Court – Juvenile Division:

Our juvenile client was held at the Juvenile Justice Center after allegedly sending threatening and inappropriate messages to classmates. The Prosecutor’s Office pushed hard to keep them detained, but we emphasized our client’s clean record, strong family support and genuine remorse.
The referee agreed — our client will be released today to be with his family while the case continues.
