DIY online wills could save money, but they can lay estate planning traps

Just read a good article on Forbes regarding issues with using online will kits. A couple of points that I agree with and advise clients to take note:

1. You don't know what you don't know. Is there case law that
2. State-specific laws may require additional legal advice, which increases the cost of the online will kit.
3. "The four basic estate planning documents: a will, a trust, power of attorney for financial matters and an advance health care directive" yet some of these will kits may only include these with additional costs;
4. Various tax implications to the devisee(s).

Having estate planning documents prepared can provide peace of mind because "you never know what surprises life will bring that will invoke your estate plan."
