💌 Ashley Glass: A Life of Purpose & Grace
From candy striper to paramedic, from estate expert to community advocate — this is a fundraiser rooted in service.
At just 12 years old, I began volunteering. I was a candy striper in high school, led our school's United Way and Battered Women’s Shelter programs, and never stopped showing up when someone needed help. Thanksgiving and Christmas was spent at the Atlanta Union Mission or Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry giving back.
I went on to spend 12 years as a paramedic, witnessing up close the quiet crises that families face — illness, grief, transition, and survival. That training shaped how I approach everything: calm, compassionate, and committed.
In 2007, after growing up in around the auction business and antique stores, I founded my estate sale company after realizing the industry, at the time, lacked the empathy, and organization families deserved. I saw card tables and chaos. I envisioned something better — something beautiful. And we built it.
I grew my company from a team of two, my mom and I, to a team of 25 at it's peak. My team is my family!
Since then, I’ve grown a respected business in an unregulated industry, become a founding member of the National Estate Sale Association, and earned my Appraiser’s Certificate from NYU and studied at Christie's and the top museums, a dream come true.
I trained my team, traveled to 22 states studying best practices, and helped over 1,400 families navigate transitions in the past 17 years — not just with logistics, but with love.
I believe that I helped elevate the industry and hope that it continues to grow and help more families.
In 2024, I experienced permanent vision loss in one eye after 5 surgeries. It was traumatic, yes — but it also deepened my purpose. As I lay face down after surgery, I asked: Am I really serving and fulfilling a "PURPOSE". What else can I do to serve? The answer was clear.
When I began the estate sale company in 2007, I was still working in the Emergency Room at Georgia Baptist / Atlanta Medical Center. I thought it would make a great combination, as I had been dealing with grief and death for a long time and loved antiques and vintage items.
In 2007, there were only 6 estate sale companies in Atlanta and back then, an estate sale was conducted because *** someone had passed away and the family needed assistance or someone was going to an assisted living or nursing home, and again, the family needed guidance and compassion.
Fast forward to estate sales today: they have changed drastically. Today, it is more about the profit, the competition, and you have two "clients" wanting the complete opposite thing. The family wants the most and your customer wants to pay the least.
It no longer feels like a service and a purpose.
I have to get back to my roots of truly helping people in need!!!
Now, I want to complete my Move Management Certification / Aging in Place and begin training as a Death Doula, guiding families through the deeply emotional moments that often come with aging and loss. Whether it’s downsizing a home, honoring last wishes, or clearing a room filled with a lifetime of memories — I want to be there.
Why This Fundraiser?
I'm launching the Purpose & Grace Fundraiser so that I can continue to help people and lead with heart and serve our community — starting with this fundraiser to fund:
• My certification as a Move Manager and Death Doula
• A long-term vision: building a nonprofit rooted in dignity, support, for those that need it the most
💖 Why Me?
Because I’ve always shown up for others.
Not just as a business owner. But as a woman. A volunteer. A public servant. A daughter. A survivor. A friend.
And now, I’m asking for your help — so I can continue helping others, the way I always have.
Here are two ways that you can help:
