My name is Gary Johnson. I was born in Brooklyn, New York And was raised in Bethpage (Long Island) where I attended public and parochial school. I joined the Air Force when I was 17 years old and served for 6 years. I did one tour of duty in Vietnam and
served temporary duty assignments in Korea and Thailand. Upon completing my active duty
assignment, I went to American River College, Sacramento, CA for two years and received my Associate of Arts Degree in Political Science. I then transferred to California State University, Sacramento, CA where
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. I decided that I wanted to give more back to my county and joined the active Coast Guard Reserve where I served for 26 years. I received my Masters of Arts Degree in Quality Systems Management while serving in the Coast Guard. I became a
law enforcement officer with the Placer County Sheriff’s Department for two years and then accepted a position with the State of California and worked as a Senior Investigator with the Department of Consumer Affairs. After gaining some experience, I transferred to the Department of Justice as a Narcotics Special Agent. I worked for the State of California for 30 years.
I enjoy volunteering and have devoted over 18 years as a school board member in three different school districts:
*8 years for the Old Adobe School District in Petaluma, CA
*8 years for the Placer Hills School District in Meadow Vista, CA.
*In 2016 I was elected to the Roseville High School Board in Roseville, CAMy
* School Site Council Member
I also enjoyed volunteering as a coach in youth soccer and basketball.
I have been a part of several organizations that help homeless veterans, educating veterans with financial literacy, and health and mental issues. One of these is the Sonoma County Human Services Commission. Another organization that I spent time with is the
Sacramento Chapter of (VAREP) Veteran’s Association of Real Estate Professionals. I spent a total of 4 years as Treasurer and President.
I am currently working as a Realtor with Home Smart I Care Realty serving the Northern California area. I continue to volunteer as a Colonel in the United States Volunteers Honor Guard where I do military Honors for veterans who pass away.
My wife and I reside in Roseville, CA but we are moving to Reno, NV in 2022. My greatest joy are my 5 grandchildren and family
